Dusseldorf to Lippstadt

by radhsh1

Can anyone please tell me what is the cheapest mode of transport from Lippstadt to Dusseldorf or vice versa, and how much does it cost

Re: Dusseldorf to Lippstadt

http://www.bahn.com/i/view/overseas/en/index.shtml

will give you train times, details and fares in English. Use 'duesseldorf' when you search, to account for the unlaut.

Journey takes just under 2 hours. Fares vary according to departure and there are also advance online fares available from 19 euro. You will receive an eticket, which you print out and present to the guard with the same card you used to buy the ticket. It is essential that you have the same card with you as it acts as your identification.

Make sure you uncheck the 'prefer fast connections' box to see all departures.

and select as means of transport "only local transport".

You can use "D" as a shortcut for Düsseldorf Hbf (main train station). Or "DUS" as a shortcut for Düsseldorf International Airport.
NRW-fare tickets are zone-to-zone local public transport tickets. They cover regional trains and all other local public transport (e.g. the trams and buses in Düsseldorf). With the NRW tariff there are also day tickets and mini group day tickets covering all of NRW (= state North Rhine-Westphalia).

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

see the city from the Rhein

by vinnie_RU

Take a walk along the Rhein if the wheather is nice and sunny, it is a great way to feel this city. If you get tired find a bench and watch passing pedestrians, the passig by boats and ships. A really niceplace for a conversation orfor some thinking.

Diving in Düsseldorf ;-)

by elbe

Okay, I must admit that Düsseldorf is not really close to the Sea. In fact you need about three hours to drive to the Dutch North Sea. But there are also opportunities to learn diving (I think if you already dive it's not worth to go on with reading this tip). Of course it's not as attractive as learning in the (warm) Sea but in fact it has it's own charme. The first four lessons are given in a swimming pool (don't laugh!). Before you go there every time you've a theoretical lesson. And the final test is in a lake close to Düsseldorf (I made it in the middle of December when it was - 2 °C, quite an interesting experience ;-) on a weekend. You have to dive two times every day for at least 20 minutes.
Our teachers were great and had a lot of humour and patience.

Getting there

by Leipzig

Düsseldorf is directly connected to the A3, A44, A46, A52, A57 and A59 autobahns.

The city also has railway stations with direct services to all major German cities.

The Rhein-Ruhr airport, one of Germany's three biggest commercial airports.

I have been in many great restaurants in Germany. I do not tend to favour traditional German restaurants as they tend to be a bit samey samey.... (sorry but thats what I feel) plus I am not a big meat eater! Will come back to this.

Burgplatz

by DanielF

The largest Square in the Old City is the Palace Square, where you can admite one of the most characteristic D?sseldorfer perspectives: the Palace tower with the Saint Lambert Church in the background.

The latter is the oldest church in town, although it has suffered constant modifications along the centuries. What I like most about it is its spiral shaped steeple.
