A night halt in Dusseldorf

by hellothere2008

Hi,
Any recommendation on any cheap/budget hostel kinda budget accommodation web site? We (my self, wife our small kid and 2 more guys) looking to stay just for a night in Dusseldorf.
Even Shared toilet/shower is OK.

www.hostelworld.com

www.hostelbookers.com

Both reliable sites.

With a small child, you may find a hotel better than a hostel.

www.booking.com is relaible for hotels, or the official Duseldorf tourist info site:

http://www.duesseldorf-tourismus.de/hotels_e/default.php

Or even private rooms? The same site offers a private-room-finding service:

for all kind of hotels in Germany use these sites:

www.hotel.de

www.hrs.de

both very reliable. I do all my business and private booking via these sites.

Try Hotel Lindenhof www.lindenhof-duesseldorf.de It is my favorite in Duesseldorf, clean, convenient to the main train station. Last time I was there it was 60 Euro for two people.

I have stayed at the Ibis right behind the main train station it is Clean, reasonable.. and you have your own Bathroom I believe for two it was 58 a night and for 10 extra each a huge breakfast!! they have free internet and it is a nice walk to the old area of town!! The train station also offers a good selection of shops and food and a great drug store for anything you might need!!

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

Schwedenapfel

by wilde13

In Düsseldorf you shouldnt miss the confisserie HEINEMANN. Enter the cafe and get one of the best cakes in the city.
Take for example the Schwedenapfel (swedish apple) or anything else.

The interior of the cafe is debatale, but the cakes not.

For US people, they do provide a 24 hour delivery service for some specific items. Taste and feel!

Climbing at the Vertical Park

by IceBear7

Another climbing opportunity in Düsseldorf! Quite low, just 9 m from floor to ceiling. Most routes are in the categories 5 to 7, lots of great and tough overhangs, huge boulder area.

Nice staff, good shower facilities, fair prices (climbing 6 Euro, belt rental 2 Euro).

Open 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. during the week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

Train is best from Amsterdam....

by paulmacn

Train is best from Amsterdam. The trip only takes about 3 hours and costs around 100 guilders for a weekend return ticket.
Walking is the best way to get around the city. It is quite compact and most items of interest like shopping and nightlife is concentrated in the Aldstadt area.

Have a lovely meal and an Altbier

by Bigs about Zum Hirschchen

One of these old typical beerhouses. The food is quite modern, even if the restaurant really looks old fashioned from the outside and inside!

They have a different menu every day... Salat mit Bratkartoffeln uns Spiegelei, kind of unusual to mix salad and fried potatoes, but it´s a very common dish in htis area of Germany! It was excellent!!!

Rheinturm

by Gili_S

Rheinturm is the telecom tower where you can see it from almost any place in the city. I have been to this city many times but only on my last visit I also went up to this tower and enjoyed the view.
