by faverolle1

Hi am in Dusseldorf for the weekend very soon. We are staying at the Innside Premium Hotel Seestern. I have noticed it's on the other side of the!!! will travel to the main shopping area etc be easy? I have read the public transport is a bit confusing in Dusseldorf.

also will we be able to travel by public transport from the airport to the hotel ( we land at 20.30 )or will taxi be the easiest. Thanks xx

This Hotel is next to the U-Bahn station "Am Seestern" (line U77).
-> field C5

This line brings you directly to the Altadt (Old Town), the Kö (Königsallee - the main shopping street) and the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station).

Single ticket for any trip inside Düsseldorf (incl. the airport) is EUR 2,00.
A mini group (2-5 persons) day ticket is EUR 10,20. This ticket is valid till 3am of the next day.

These tickets cover all means of local public transport:
- local trains: RB, RE
- S-Bahn
- U-Bahn/Stadtbahn/trams
- buses

DB timetable
From: DUS (-> Düsseldorf Airport)
From: D (-> Düsseldorf Hbf)
To: Duesseldorf Am Seestern

You have to use "Düsseldorf" or "Duesseldorf". "Dusseldorf" is not correct!
It's also e.g.

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

by elbe

If you go to Düsseldorf you have to know that the city is the "Altbier"-area. Altbier is considered Germany's oldest beer style. It's a dark beer especially brewed in the area around Düsseldorf. Never ever order a Kölsch (from Cologne) in Düsseldorf - the waitress may beat you up ;-) - that could also happen if you order an Altbier in Cologne.
Cologne and Düsseldorf have an old competition about the importance of the cities. Cologne is bigger and more famous in the world than Düsseldorf which is more poshy and the capital city of the county Northrhine-Westfalia. Probably this "battle" will never end. So never order an Altbier in Cologne or a Kölsch in Düsseldorf.

Crazy jewelry

by sabsi about Galerie Cebra

If you are into "different" jewelry this is your place: A small shop in the old town full of very creative and different rings, earrings, necklaces etc. Different artists sell their stuff here. Crazy jewelry made of everyday materials such as phone cards or bottle tops. You also find some more trafitional stuff here. It depends on what you want to buy. I've seen prices between € 2.50 and several hundred Euro.

italian food ? - try this one !

by wilde13 about Casa Luigi

If you enter the steps down the cellar to the restaurant, you wont image to get into one of the best italian restaurants in Duesseldorf.

The food is always made accurat and fresh. There is no schnickschnack but simply good looking and very tasteful dishes.
Most recommend dish are the "Trüffel Tartiatelle". Or taste some of the good wines.

You cannot go to Duesseldorf and not stroll over Koenigsallee. Koenigsallee epitomised what Duesseldorf is about for a lot of people who live there: Money. It must be one of the most expensive and posh shopping streets in Germany. Be prepared to be eyed with suspicion if you walk along in jeans and runners.

Rhineturm by night

by martin_nl

When we finished our dinner at the Schlöffel we walked back to the Rhein to take some more pics of the city by night. During the day the Rheinturm looks somewhat dull, but in the evening it's like a spaceship! Also if you can figure out how it works you can read the time from the tower, good luck figuring it out!
