Transport to the inner city center

by AndIDream

Hi!

I want to visit a friend of mine in Dusseldorf, I am in the neigbourhood, but I don't want to drive my car into the city centre, I've done that once and I wouldn't really want to do that again, especially in the dark. Does anybody know where I could park my car and drive further by tram or subway?

Preferably in the north which is where I'm headed afterwards or the south, where I'm coming from. And how much time would it take me to get to the centre?

Thanks!

Hellerhof to Hauptbahnhof needs e.g. 18 min.
Single ticket for any trip inside Düsseldorf is EUR 2,00.

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

Hunde Bar

by martin_nl

As said in the General Tip, Germans love their dogs and they take them everywhere, even when they go to the pub. In this pub, dogs aren't allowed, but since the pub does want to have customers they created this Hunde Bar. hile the dogs' owner is enjoying his Alt Bier the dog has his own bar. Not sure what runs from the tap....hmmmm...

Pretty Vacant Club

by leafmcgowan about The Pretty Vacant

Saturday nights: The Sound's of Swingin' London.
A great little hole-in-the-wall club and bar in the heart of the old town district of Dusseldorf. Around 10 pm, this little bar becomes infested with the Brit-pop crowd of Dusseldorf piling down into the bricked basement for a crunchy sardine-packed dance night to some of the cities best post-punk, brit pop, UK indie, and electropop. Fabulous time. The music was great and the drinks were good. Service was great as well. Spinning great tunes by the DJ's: 1. sa: POPMISSILE F1-11; 2. sa: POP GOES MY LOVE; 3-4. sa: FISH'N'CHIPS. For any Brit Pop / Post Punk junkie ... this is the place to be in Dusseldorf. Excellent! Rating: 4 stars out of 5.

I had dinner there several times with some friends and I like the selection of the foods in a reasonable price. They have great Flammkuchen and home made pasta.. I love their home made Pasta..yummy...

Opera Shop

by Nemorino

A block away from the Opera House is this Opera Shop where you can get tickets and subscriptions for the performances, but also a wide selection of books, CDs and all the souvenir merchandise that every opera house has to have nowadays, such as umbrellas, T-shirts, coffee mugs, calendars, etc.

Of course you can also get tickets online, which is what I as an out-of-town person usually do.

The Opera Shop is open Monday - Thursday from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00, Fridays from 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00.

Walk along the Rhine by night

by martin_nl

In the nightime al the tourists seem to have disaapeared and the city looks completely different. As always I suggest visiting some of the same sights again in the evening. You get a whole different feel for the city.
