Wow, in Dusseldorf they have shopping carts that won't run away down the escalator between the floors. We were amazed by this and could play for hours just going up and down... At home you'd need 6 guys holding back the trolley, otherwise granny would get killed as it goes careering down the escalator!

This is an Irish Pub called the Tir na nog (?), at Alstad. The service was good and the Guiness was fantastic.
Düsseldorf is a beer trap! It is easy to over do it...as can be seen from our conduct....
Local Brewery
by Leipzig about Zum Schlüssel
It is a typical German tradition to sit in front of the pub under huge parasols and kill several beers. As "zum Schlüssel" has an own brewery it is a must to have some glasses of the local Alt Beer.
Mahn-und Gedenkstatte Musuem

This is a small musuem I visted recently and had free admission. Unfortunately for me the exhibition was in German but there is some free accompanying hand books which are very informative. The musuem has quite a history. The building was occupied by the 20th SS corps and the army administration office. Inside there are tiny holding cells which contained wooden benches and a tiny wired window. There are plenty of photographs and a photograph album made out of metal (not too easy to turn the pages). Overall you couldn't spend all day in here but I did enjoy browsing.
Strolling in the Hofgarten

This beautiful park in the middle of Duesseldorf is popular with locals and tourists and a perfect place for a late Autumn sunny Sunday morning stroll. It's full of old and contemporary sculpture including a Henry Moore no less!! It's also alive with all kinds of birds, blue ***, wrens, robins, swans, Canada geese, mallards and magpies (Elster in German ;-) It really is quite stunning to see all the leaves turning various shades of red and gold around the lake.
