Is the Underground Train or Subway Train run 24 hours?
by Frenchpromo
Hi,
The Underground Train or S-Train around Dusseldorf run for 24 hours? .... or runs until certain timing? Please advise.
Cheers!

It's been a while, but when I worked in Dusseldorf you had some late trams (past midnight) and they would start again early in the morning - around 4:00. I think. But that was the line I used from the Main train station for about 6 stops, so I can't comment on the other lines or the further peripheries of the city. They aren't really underground trains - they were trams that ran underground as they got into the city centre and then popped out again when tehy got near the main train station.
The S-Bahn - only used to get to and from the airport, so I can't really comment on running times

Düsseldorf night network on Fr/Sa and Sa/Su nights.
http://www.rheinbahn.de/SiteCollectionDocuments/fahrplan/NE_Flyer01_09.pdf
There are also some other lines operating at these nights till 2am.
On the other nights there are some bus routes operating.

See section "Nachtverkehr in der Woche".
Easiest is most likely just to use the timetable on the above linked site.

The late trains run with lots of time between. Check the times before hand because you can wait an awfully long time. Any where from 25-30 minutes between. The website that was given is a great resource, i used it for my trip. Also everything is automated in the stations, so there isn't anyone to help you if you can't figure out the machine if you aren't in a main station. Perhaps a passer by. But again use the website it will help a lot and the automated machines are sort of a pain in the butt! Honestly, it was difficult for me even using the english setting. Good Luck! The city is just fantastic!
Travel Tips for Düsseldorf
International Library
by rollinstone81
For all ya english speaking people: Düsseldorf has an international library. If you happen to be bored on a rainy day, or just wanna grab a book and read a little, why not go there? It is on Kasernenstrasse 6, which is 25 meters from the tram stop Heinrich-Heine-Allee. It is on the 4th floor, and on the outside it says (among other things): Internationales Bildungszentrum, Fremdsprachenbibliothek (that's where you wanna go), VHS, Die Brücke. Opening hours are:
Mon-Wed: 12-6pm
Thurs. 2pm-8pm
Sat. 10am-2pm
Tel.Number (just in case): 0211 8368963 I enjoy just going there, sitting and reading a book or renting an english language video/DVD

My favorite indoor climbing hall in Düsseldorf! They have nothing but climbing walls, a lot of routes of all kinds of difficulty, challenging and fun!
Very friendly staff.
Tuesdays and Thursdays they have open climbing meaning you can come on your own and they guarantee you a partner. Great to meet people as well. You can find me there on many Thursdays these days... Rental equipment is of great quality and rates are fair. The ropes are quite dirty, you wouldn't want to eat something with your fingers afterwards.
Nice little changing room, clean, with lockers.
Trams Again

Tram numbers began with a 7 and bus numbers began with an 8. A transport map can be seen at the bus stops along with timetables but it looked very confusing - even locals can be bemused by the system!
There seems to be some kind of region ticket you can get too. On our way back to Cologne from Dusseldorf we got a region C ticket for €3.50 each. We used this same ticket to catch a bus to the train station and from there the S-bahn to Cologne (took 1 hour the slow way). After sightseeing in Cologne we used the same ticket to get to the airport via the S-Bahn (although I'm not convinced we were covered for that section!)

This is a new and very much motivated cuisine in the "Inn Side hotel".
Very much luxury and senseful. Always changing cards. Have a try. As always, i dont have a favorite dish. I always take what is new to me.
Rhein
by mirchica
Rhein is gorgeous river, I’m always amazed by the calmness it inspires – quiet water that never ends. I can sit and watch it with hours. There are alleys along the whole river in the city and it’s nice everywhere. The sunset must not be missed ;)
