Schlösser Alt
This is probably the most global altbier that you can find almost anywhere in the world. There fore I actually never had this beer in Düsseldorf but else where when it was the only Alt Beer available.

Hi,
I'll be stuck in Dusseldorf for New Years Eve, as I have to work I won't be able to get to my hometown for that day.
Are there any good places where I could join New Years Eve celebrations??
Thanks
I dont know what you like, but since dusseldorf is known for having too many rich sons/doughters, a place for having just a good party is the "les halles", a very nice club in a former goods railway area.
you should try to get tickets early!
for 12 o'clock you should show up at the river side and look for the fireworks, very nice.
and dont forget the "altstadt", tons of bars and clubs here.

This bar is situated in the modernart museum surrounded of a park (see travelogue winterday in k21 ).
The people are more relaxed and more calm when somewhere else.
The restaurant/bar is quite trendy. You get a selection of cakes or anyother food.
At night, they have around 200 different cocktails you can get out of a book. Leisure, as you feel.
A restaurant set in an old Co-op supermarket. The exterior and interior style is unchanged from its former days. A nice friendly atmosphere waits inside - and if you go right to the back you can watch food being made while you eat. Don't be scared by all the flames! It was a tough decision because the veggie dish that we wanted was off the menu, so the waiter had to find out what they could do for us. In the end I went for... a great German salad! This one was basically bruschetta with melted mozzarella served with a pile of the most delicious salad I ever had, and in a lovely dressing!
They do the best caipirinha too (the famous German/Brazillian cocktail).
The Neanderthal Museum in Mettmann near Duesseldorf is one of the most interesting museums I have been to. It is a multi-media exhibition not only about the Neanderthal people, but about the history and the future of mankind in general. It will take you at least 2 hours to do your round through the museum if you want to look at all the presentations. Admission is €6.50. The museum is situated at the entrance to the Neanderthal Valley, and you can go for a walk there after your visit to the museum. On the way you will pass by a some bisons in a field, and there are Przewalski horses in another. Other facilities near the museum include a playground for children, a pitch-and-putt course, and a restaurant.
Another piece of great architecture, for me this is one of the nicest office buildings I know. When driving towards the Rheinufer Tunnel from the south you will get a great "Big City View" when driving into the tunnel because the Stadttor was built on top of the tunnel entrance! One of my favourite routes in Düsseldorf!
