S-Bahn to Airport

by t_maia

Hi,

my parents were told by a travel agent that the S-Bahn from Hbf to DUS airport is not running in the night and that they need to book a hotel with airport transfer.

My parents intend to fly on Aug 13th and need to be at the airport around 5:30 am.

I checked on www.bahn.de and from the information there the S-Bahn is running, can anybody shed some light on this?

(My guess is that the travel agent was lying to my parents because she wanted to sell that hotel, but I would like to confirm that the S-Bahn is indeed running from Hbf.)

Thanks!

S-Bahn is running all night from Dusseldorf Hbf to Dusseldorf International Airport (plus a few ICE and regional trains). Who would you trust - www.bahn.de or a travel agent?

No problem to reach the airport in time by S-Bahn.
Düsseldorf airport has 2 train stations. A Düsseldorf Airport Terminal station which is in the basement of the terminal building. Used by S-Bahn S7 from Düsseldorf Hbf. And the Düsseldorf Airport station at the edge of the airport grounds. Connected with the terminal buy the SkyTrain.

HansDK is right:

From: Duesseldorf Hbf
To: DUS

Aug 13th:

dep: 05:15, S-Bahn S7, plattform 14 - arr: 05:26
dep: 05:23, Regional train, plattform 17 - arr: 05:28
dep: 05:35, S-Bahn S7, plattform 14 - arr: 05:38

Can't see a problem here.

"...Who would you trust - www.bahn.de or a travel agent?"

LOL, you are right! I just booked a hotel at the train station for my mom and dad. :)

Now, does anybody have any tips on where to have dinner? Any cosy budget place near tram station Luisenstrasse, preferably Italian, Greek or German?

Thanks everybody!

A hidden gem

by IceBear7 about Milds

Rethelstraße is a busy shopping street about 20 min away from the city center in the pretty Zooviertel area. If you need a brake from all the grocery shopping go to Milds!

They have some of the best coffees in town and they are not a thousand-outlet-brand like starbucks. you get breakfasts and salads as well and 3 special meals that are changing every day. a desert of the week. home made cakes. freshly ground coffee. uerige altbier. and a little piece of cake with your coffee not the "ordinary" cooky.

Come with your book or newspaper, with a friend or alone. They recently extended their opening hours, now open until 10 p.m. and open on Sundays!

original art on the walls and very nice staff!

Der Schalenbrunnen

by Mariajoy

This lovely fountain built in 1882 by von L Muesch is on Corneliusplatz near the exclusive shopping street, Koenigsallee. It's a very pleasant spot to sit and cool off but when the wind blows in your direction prepare to get wet! I think the name roughly translates as *The shell bowl* but I am open to correction!
