Flingern???

by esterspain

hi!

Next week I start a German course in the university. I will stay in ahouse in a bezirk/area called Flingern I have many questions:
is it a good place to stay?,
is it very far from the city center?and from the university?

See you in Düsseldorf!

Hello,

Flingern is actually a good choice, even a very good choice being in Flingern Nord (north of the railway). It is a former industrial and working area, which is the very much upcoming area in duesseldorf with many in-pubs, in-restaurants, galleries and in for the biggest discothek. So, social live is very good.

Flingern is very close to the city centre, therefore you do have best connections intown and to university.
Welcome to Düsseldorf and enjoy your stay!

A mi no me gusta Flingern.

Well, Flingern has a charme of its own. It's not THAT breathtaking beautiful, but it's a nice area and the connection to the city and the university is really really good!

Have a nice time in Flingern and welcome to Germany!!

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

Frankenheim Alt Bier

by Gili_S

This is the Alt Bier made in the Frankenheim Brauereiausschank brewery. You can get it at the brewery restaurant but also in stores in the region. To many opinions, this is one of the best alt beers in the world.

Crazy Night Life in Bolkerstraße

by TinyTuck

Here you'll find, besides all the places to eat and snack, a great number of bars, pubs and discos. Just check out the location, there'll be something for everyone, and surely enough to keep you busy all night long!

by blue-viggen

I ate at the Hafen Marriot Hotel and can recommend the food and service as being of a very high standard. A welcome experience for a chain of Hotels not normally renowned for their continuity.
A very friendly service and no complaints what so ever Fillet Steak and starter / entre of diced beef with stir fry vegetables served on a Taco with salsa. '' Wunderbar''

Frank Gehry Buildings

by Mariajoy

This very modern architecture is just a short walk from the Rhine Tower. Judging by the apparent lack of occupancy, these offices/appartments are not to everyone's taste - but in my opinion they are really quite fabulous and definitely well worth a look if you are visiting this city - a wonderful 21st century landmark on the Rhine.

For more info, the website gives a far better explanation than I ever could!

King's Alley

by DanielF

The most elegant boulevard in Düsseldorf runs along the moat of the city, which is lined with chestnut trees.

Although the complete name is Königsallee, everybody calls it here simply "Kö".

The King to which the name refers was Frederic William IV of Prussia, as Germany did not exist yet as a State in the middle of the XIX century and Düsseldorf was a part of Prussia back then.
