Weeze airport to Duesseldorf airport
by nikolas1984
yes i am a victim of Ryanair's cheap flights campaing too. And I just realised that the airport I am flying to is 80km away from my connection airport.. Anyway luckily i have 3 hours gap should I should have enough time to do the transfer.
I found timetables and such for trains but I can't find any prices? has anyone got any idea how much it cost a train from Weeze airport to dusseldorf airport?

There is no railway station at Weeze Airport. The nearest station is a few minutes' drive away in the small town of Weeze. The fare to the centre of Dusseldorf is about 14 euros. Comprehensive information about transport from/to the airport can be found on the airport website (available also in English):

Two options
a) shuttle bus from Weeze airport to Düsseldorf Hbf (EUR 12,50), from there by S-Bahn to Düsseldorf Airport (EUR 2,10)
http://www.airport-weeze.de/2-3-3_bus_duesseldorf.php?lang=en
DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: D
To: DUS
b) bus to Weeze (or Kevelaer) station from there by train
DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: Weeze Flughafen
To: DUS
The buses to Weeze or Kevelaer drive only on demand. Check the details for a connection with the DB timetable for the phone number to call.
Weeze Airport to Weeze is EUR 2,10, train to Düsseldorf Airport is EUR 13,80.
Weeze Airport to Kevelaer is EUR 3,90, train to Düsseldorf Airport is EUR 11,90.
Not sure if these buses are not - at least partly - covered by these train tickets, as here the NRW tariff applies (a zone-to-zone tariff for all local public transport) not the usual DB tariff (point-to-point tariff for trains).
Travel Tips for Düsseldorf
Class of Düsseldorfish ;-)

In high German this would be: "Eine Bitte! Parkt hier nicht - das tät uns schaden, denn Ürige-Bier wird hier verladen. Dank euch! Das Ürige" and in English simply: "One favor! Don't park here, it would desturb us, cause Ürige-beer is being silt up here. Thank you! The Ürige"
Spee's Graben

One of the neat things about Düsseldorf is the way that it combines the allure of a big city with the charms of a small town. For example, you can be walking in the middle of the bustling old city, and then only a hundred meters away you can stroll into a dense canopy of forest that makes you feel as if you far far away from the urban bustle. I especially liked the thickly forested "Spee's Graben," a rustic enclave in the heart of the city, created in the early 19th century from one of the ditches that surrounded the main battlements of the fortress. It's just off Berger Allee, behind the Stadtmuseum.
Trams and underground trains
by Nemorino
Düsseldorf has a very efficient system of thirteen tram lines and seven underground (subway) lines, not counting the controversial new one that is just being built (previous tip).
For us opera-goers it is very easy to use the public transport system, because each opera ticket also allows us to take public transport to and from the opera house on the night of the performance.
Touch Tailor Wibbel's beard for good luck in life

A statue of Tailor Wibbel (Duesseldorf's famous figure) is on the wall near the cinema. Touch him and your wish may come true.
I am still waiting.

In advent, it is the thing to do...

German tourism has recieved a massive shot in the arm in recent years as the Christmas markets that run throughout December have become increasingly popular for people of other countries to visit. The availability of cheap flights (see transportation tip) has further fuelled this process.
The one in Dusseldorf is quite large, although it is rather split up into six seperate areas dotted around the older part of the city.
The market has all you would expect, but i'm not going to describe it in gushing, flowery prose, no I will leave that to this German website that described it thus :
"About 270 festively decorated huts carry visitors away to a romantic fairyland right in the centre of the city. The fragrance of cinnamon cakes and gingerbread, of hot chocolate and mulled red wine, of crispy waffles and charcoal grilled regional specialities entices to feast under the clear sky. A merry entertainment programme underlines the mood of this most magic season of the year. " YUK. yuk Yuk.
