Hi guys, looooooong time no see!!
I need your help. I'm hoping to go to the k-fair this year. I'm having trouble finding accommodation (for 2 pers) for the 23rd & 24th. Do you know of any B&Bs/apartments/hotels/etc near the city centre? Everything seems to be booked up.
Any help would be appreciated!

I recommend looking at Düsseldorf's official tourist site and its hotel database as there you get the availability:

If it comes to it, you can consider somewhere nearby Düsseldorf and commute in. Distances are so short between cities there and most have hotels in the railway station quarters of course. Cologne or Duisburg takes no time getting to.

The twin sharing room is very cheap for 48 Euro per night and its available.
Dusiburg is just 8-10 minutes from dusseldorf and the hostel is like a hotel and is walking distance away from Hauptbahnhof Duisburg ( central railway station dusiburg)

Yes, there's also a cheap Ibis hotel at the station in Duisburg and the station are there is not particularly seedy.

There are no rooms available in Hotel Ibis on 24th October and price is also high at 119 Euro. At this point of time there is great difficulty finding good rooms.
Even in Cologne you will find most of the hotels are booked up.
The travel companies have booked the slots so thats why unable to find any room. There may be some cancellation also but its risky to wait till the last moment and ending up paying as high as 150 Euro for the room.
The Christmas market in Düsseldorf is not as picturesque as in other cities in Germany, but the city gets a very special atmosphere during these days and the street decoration is one of the best i have seen in Europe: simple, elegant, imaginative, impacting. Just like the city itself.

This little museum is virtually off all paths! There are no opening hours but you have to arrange a visit with the owner. It was open this your during the night of the museums, and I was overwhelmed! A whole building full of clocks! Clock next to clock!
The time is different on all of them, so every couple of minuits you hear a different one chiming. There are plain ones and ones with lots of decorations, old ones and really old ones, all very fascinating.
The owner repairs clocks and collects these special comtoise clocks, and he is a great storyteller!

There are no free parking lots in Düsseldorf - most of the time, so getting around by car can be a nightmare somehow... You often see cars parked in the second line. The police has a lot to do in this city I think....
Look, this is Sabsis parking "lot" in front of her house. It´s between a street lampp and the street, and she has to park her car so close to the lamp, otherwise her short Lupo will stand half on the street.....
... by car from my house I can reach one of the most well maintained palaces in this region. The castle and its parks cover an area of more than 610.000 square meters. It was built in the 18th century.
The gardens are beautifully arranged and there is still the small vegetable garden "Potager" from where the cooks of the palace used to get their herbs and fresh vegetables before.
Strolling around those gardens for hours would be nice if accompanied by somebody you care ...
Around the Rheinturm there is a lot of green. They put quite a few arty stuff on all this green. Some of it looks horrible in my opinion, but other pieces of art like that pictured in the picture look very nice and on it's place here.
