Cycling tip - Schloss Hülshoff
by egonwegh
This is where the famous German poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff was born. This castle can in fact be visited, but we were here during the winter season in early March and could not enter the castle grounds. I had to make this picture through the iron gate.

MÜNSTER

Münster is a real student town, which means young people, pubs and bars, bikes - and friends who live and study there and love to have visitors to take the day off and show you around and let you have their bed.
The Netherlands started here!

With the signing of the Peace Treaty of Munster (May 15th 1648), in the town hall -which is still as is was when the Treaty was signed!- the end of the 80-years war between Spain and the Netherlands was a fact. Spain recognized the Republic of United Provinces (the Netherlands) as a independent state!
Therefore, Munster is special to the Dutch, but it is a nice town as well!
