Travel Tips for Paderborn
Paderborn

Historical Buildings
Paderborn is a university town and has so much to offer tourists. The city center alone has 20 historical buildings, for instance - The Kaiserpfalz where in 777 Karl the great founded the beginnings of Paderborn. There are still some ruins of the walls that were originally the Saalbau 'Aula'. The Paderborner Rathaus (Townhall) with its 3 tiered gable fassade was built between 1613 - 1620 and was a fine example of the Weser renaissance. The first floor has the great council hall where all official town policies are governed. The basement has a restaurant and bar and is a popular venue for the inhabitants and tourists alike.

Marktkirche (Market Church)
by himalia11
This church is a former Jesuit Church and was built in the late 17th century. It was almost completely destroyed 1945, only some things like the lectern and the Madonna were saved as they had been taken out early enough. It has been rebuild since then and was finished only some years ago with the reconstruction of the baroque high altar. The inside of the church looks really pompous, but not as overdone as several other baroque churches.

"Another visit in Paderborn"
1,5 years after moving to Frankfurt I got teh opportunity to visit Paderborn again. It hasn't changed much - and it was nice to see some freinds and visit the places I used to attend.
I took some new pictures and showed my girlfriend aruond. Glad to be here one more time :D
"Paderborn & me"
Paderborn is where I spent half a year studying at the University. It's a nice place actually. Not too big - you don't need to take a bus while returning from the club at night - most of the residential areas can be reached in 20-30 minute's walk. And it's (mostly) safe too! I couldn't really complain about Paderborn, but I guess I just needed more action :) So I moved on.

A: "Well, It's not supposed to be the most exciting town in Germany, but it has qute a long history so there should be some remains. It's not too far away from other cities..."
