Travel Tips for Rheinbach

Map Of The Town

by Kathrin_E

This information board with a map of the town is put up next to the bus stop and parking lot in Himmeroder Wall. I hope publishing a photo of an item ón display in a public street won't be considered as causing copyright problems.

Römerkanal-Wanderweg: Hiking Along The Aqueduct

by Kathrin_E

A marked hiking trail follows the route of the ancient Roman aqueduct. It begins in Nettesheim in the Eifel and ends in Cologne after 111,3 kms. About in the middle hikers will pass through Rheinbach.

Signs explain sights and locations along the trail that are connected with the Roman aqueduct, like, here, the original piece that has been put up in Rheinbach.

SCUBA DIVING: Monte Mare Indoor Diving Centre

by Kathrin_E

The Monte Mare swimming pool contains an indoor diving centre, a deep basin with an underwater landscape. Artificial rocks, caves, tunnels, and underwater volcanoes invite everyone from beginners to professionals (so they say on their website). Diving lessons for all levels are offered.

Passers-by can watch the divers from outside through two round windows (that's where I took the photo).

BALL GAMES: Freizeitpark

by Kathrin_E

Fancy playing soccer, volleyball, basketball, beach volleyball... with your mates? The Freizeitpark (leisure park) has sports fields, which can be used for free. Bring a ball and some people to play with.

Protestant Parish Church

by Kathrin_E

The protestant Gnadenkirche was built in the 1970s for the growing evangelical community. Having been property of the Archbishop of Cologne, Rheinbach used to be more or less entirely catholic till the early 20th century. Protestants were a tiny minority. After World War II, with the arrival of refugees and generally increasing mobility, the protestant community grew. They first built a parish centre with a smaller church room, then the church itself.

Location: Ramershovener Straße, corner Kriegerstraße
