Travel Tips for Solingen

Solingen

by tamerinho

"Solingen (Burg)"

I discovered Solingen by mere luck, when I had some business back in 2004 in Muenster, and due to the fact that some conference was held in Cologne, all hotels were full booked, and I had to search for a hotel, and finally I found one in one suburb of Solingen called Burg.

This gave me the chance to discover a wonderful place, a cosy town with its surroundings.

Solingen is one of the world capitals for the production of light steel products such as knives, forks, scissors...etc.

It is a very nice town, lots of greenery, hangouts, multi-ethnic restaurants...etc

The suburb of Burg is only a 30 minutes drive from the Solingen-Ohligs train station and it is a very small suburb characterised with its castle (schloss burg), that is definitley worth a visit.

Since then I always go there to Solingen/ Burg whenever I have to visit Muenster, Dusseldorf, or Cologne, as I really feel relaxed, thanks also to the hotel which I will mention in the hotel tip section.
