Penguin spotting

In 2006, Wuppertal Zoo turned 125 years old. Part of the celebrations was an event called 'Pinguinale'. Local business and private people could sponsor man-sized penguin statues, which were then painted according to their ideas.

Consequently, during the summer of 2006, you could spot colourful giant penguins all over Wuppertal!

Some of them are still around although I think there are plans to remove them at some point.

Watch out for the penguins!

Another city we were stationed at when I was a child, attending the british army school. I remember the base we lived on was opposite a german base, literally a main road dividing us. My younger sister and I made many friends here and we spent a lot of time on their side of the main road.
