Holiday Inn North / Ashford: Comftable
The staff were very welcoming and polite, we were booked in with no fuss and an early call booked.
If your traveling with travelscope i would personally recommend catching the coach from here.
It takes approx 2hrs to drive from Ipswich, and at £62:00 including 4days Free Parking it was worth it.
As a result of catching the coach here, we were able to get a good nights rest with a fantastic cooked breakfast in the morning.
beats traveling for 5hrs in the early hours.
Modern Hotel, comfy bed with on suite ,sat telly, phone .
There is also an on site gym too if your feeling energetic.

Hotel bahn hubel: "Decor to die for"
Well where to start?. Firstly I have to say that you have to put everything in context.
You get what you pay for? It is a no thrills basic Hotel (in my opinion).
Rooms are compact and basic,no Tea making facilities,No Tv (But then you have the view outside ).
Our room had a shower and basin with a hidden wardrobe, a table and two chairs.
The Decor is very retro possb 70s with flowered brown wallpaper.
The beds are basic, but like i said you get what you pay for and i don't want you to think these are moans?.
It was unique in its quirky kind of way, however here comes the Bombshell? if you are staying through a travel company, ours was Travel scope (now Phoenix holidays.co.uk), you could be staying in the hotel or the guest houses around the town.
We stayed in the guest house No2 on the hill.
There are 2 on the hill one opposite is an annex and another about 1km up the road by a bridge.
Great views depending on which place your staying at?.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay in Altenahr.
Feel free to email me, if i can answer your questions i will.

Bahnhof Hubel Altenahr: Good value budget hotel
Situated in the centre of the village next to the railway station - one of the annexes is a converted signal box! The main hotel building is on the main street, with various annexes in the village. The accomodation is basic, but clean and comfortable. Our room was just up the hill from the main building and had a double bed and ensuite shower and WC. The staff were friendly and helpful, and all spoke English, but did appreciate my efforts at German. I would certainly stay here again.
Good value for money.

Bahn Hotel Hubel
The Bahn Hotel Hubel is a family run hotel near the train station. The staff are very friendly and the food was excellent. They also provide evening entertainment in the main restaurant after dinner.
The decor is very retro (lucky it's back in fashion!!) and the bedrooms are "compact" and clean but not particularly comfortable. There are a large number of bedrooms in the main hotel, but no lift so not suitable for people with walking difficulties. There are also a number of guesthouses around the village run by the same family.
The bus stop (in the direction of Remagen) is outside the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel if you are not going to spend much time in your room, but if you are looking for spacious comfort then this is not the hotel for you.

Bahn Hotel Hubel: Slippery Slopes
I visited this area of Germany in March 2006 when there was a lot of snow on the ground. My room was situated up a steep slope and then up several steep steps. The slope was covered in ice and snow and was really dangerous to have to walk up and down every day. I requested it be gritted but nothing was done. So if you think you might be going there in the snowy season and you don't like icy slopes it might be best to request a room within the main building of the hotel. Other than that I found the food was wonderful, the rooms were adequate but a bit basic and the area it was situated in was beautiful. The snow when we went there made it romantic and very different from other breaks we had been on. Tip the staff and thank them a lot because they only get paid ?20 per day and work from 7am to 11pm or later.
Other than the food it didnt have any outstanding qualities. There was a drink at the bar you could have called a Rum Grog which was really nice and warming.

Zum Schwarzen Kreutz: variety
During our blitz visit, of course there was no need for a hotel, but does this not look gorgeous?! Hopefully, it is as nice inside, and it has a great location in the centre of things. But Altenahr is full of other accommodation alternatives to suit your budget and style. We walked past a modern hotel with a pool in its basement for instance (see second pic), and there is also a camp site.

Bahnhotel Hubel Altenahr with "Gasthaus Am Tunnel": Nightmare from the 1970's
Stayed here on a coaching tour along with 3 other coach loads in the off-season (March). There is the main hotel, rooms across the road, two guest houses on the hill and a converted signal box. Part of the complex is the otherside of the railway tunnel as you approach Altenahr from the North. We stayed in one of the Guesthouses. I can only describe the room as "barrack like" with worn bedding, carpeting, fixtures & fittings with decoration that looked like some nightmare from the 70's. It was warm, with ensuite and instant hotwater though. The food was awful (cheap & nasty) and the drink was expensive and poor quality, staff and service were fine.
So only use if you just want somewhere cheap to crash and use the extra money to try one of the other fine restaurants in town
Eccentric decoration, next to rail station, central location

hotel bahn (horrible) sorry hubel
Just stayed here and the previous reviews are spot on .Dont expect the usual 3 star luxuries here, very basic, no tv, tea and coffee facilities, just to sleep in rooms, clean , ensuite and red hot water.we stayed in one of the annexes 100 meters up a slope from the hotel. Booked with Travelscope for 3 nights, food package offered not worth buying very basic, as cheap to buy at nearby restaraunts and more choice. Excursions, definetely book the 3 valley tours, really enjoyed it, the wine tasting is good ,especially if you like wine and you get a tour of the cellars, the trip to cologne and aachen ok but a rush, I reccomend to try the railway on the doorstep at the back of the hotel and you can visit the cities at your leisure as some of the experienced guests did. On the positive side ,the hotel staff were cheerful and friendly, the entertainment is good at night , the area is beautiful, nice scenery. But the star for me was Colin the courier very funny man who entertained our party with his wit,we had a excellent driver in Ian, and overall I think everyone had a great time and the trip was good value for money. (buy 1 get 1 free) would go again..

Zum Schwarzen Kreuz: Altenahr's Oldest Hotel
This is Altenahrs most traditional hotel. Since 1160 an inn was recorded where you can find the present time hotel. Nice rooms, stunning cuisine and a central location within Altenahr make this hotel your premium choice.
During the wine season many events are also held within the hotel ensuring good entertainment and great wines.
