BAD NEUENAHR: Ahr-Therme - the spa
by Kathrin_E
Swimming and relaxing in warm water, being massaged by bubbles and streams - my favourite thing (well, one of my favourite things).
The website has all details in English and better pictures - no need to repeat everything here. Enjoy!
Ahr Valley: Wine and Thermal Springs
by Kathrin_E
Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler consists of two very different towns: Bad Neuenahr, the posh 19th century spa, and the much older Ahrweiler.
This page also covers some other places in and around the Ahr valley. The title of each tip will indicate in capitals which particular place it is about.
The Ahr is a small river that originates in the Eifel mountains and reaches the Rhine South of Bonn. The steep rocky slopes catch the sun, so the climate is mild and perfect for red wine.
The posh late 19th century spa town of Bad Neuenahr is especially beautiful in spring when the magnolia trees are in bloom and lots of spring flowers are everywhere.
The romantic town centre of Altenahr invites for a stroll along the narrow streets, then a coffee or a glass of Ahr wine in one of the street cafes.
This picture was taken on Easter Sunday, the weather was brillant, and the whole of Bonn and Köln seemed to be on an afternoon trip to the Ahr valley.
