Winemaking and ironworking
by hquittner
The most financially rewarding trade in the area is winegrowing. Germany's only good red wines come from the Ahr valley and the vineyards literally extend to the city limits of Ahrweiler. (it is worth several sips). The other ancient trade is ironworking and it is evident all over town as part of building care and sign-craft. Further evidence of these talents are the presence of restored sgraffitti and wood-carving (but this last might be restored original)

by Kathrin_E
The gothic church of St. Laurentius is the catholic parish church of the town. The church was erected in the 13th and early 14th century. It is one of the few medieval buildings that survived the fire of 1689.
Wineroll wine tasting

"The Cellar incident!!"
Junior vintner leads us down to the dark cellar illuminated by candles. Starts telling us a wine story - Is that a halo appearing on his head??
2 large tastings of Spatburgunder "Innovation" & "Tradition" later Donna goes in for a closer look.
Nope no halo think I'll just lean back & enjoy the view!!
........ And moments later - you guessed it there was the smell of burning backpack. Lucky it was spotted early & the flames were ousted otherwise we may have had a charcol Donna kebab to deal with (haha)
Ahhh how romantic the room looks
Feeling the heat yet Donna? (Thank you clive for the pic)
The aftermath (thanks for the pic Clive)
Donna gave me an amazing replacement backpack, it wasn't necessary cause accidents do happen. See if you can spot the new backpack in any of my pages (hehe) :-)
Clive laughing at poor Donna's fate
Are we sure that Alice was just sticking to the grape juice??
