I cannot recommend any hotel in Bingen, BUT I found an excellent castle-hotel close to Bingen, also at the left bank of the river Rhine, in a distance of just a few km downstream from Bingen.
Reichenstein castle dates back to the 11th century. In the 13th century the castle belonged to one of the most dangerous robber-barons, and as the castle had such an important position in the Rhine-valley, the emperor decided to destruct the castle and set him into prison.
It lasted 4 years to get hold of him and he was finally "made one head shorter" , as we say it in German...
Today Castle Reichenstein is a great hotel, high above the Rhine-valley and almost no noise of the train-line will get to your sleepingroom. Next to the hotel you may visit another part of the old castle that is a museum nowadays.
We stayed at the NV Hotel. Part of a European chain. Comfortable and modern it was refreshingly ýoff the wallý. All the rooms are curved. There was not one straight line or angle to be seen. It has to be seen to be believed. As does the dýcor it must be said. Oh dearý
