Local Wine Tasting
by Leipzig
Don't miss to arrange a meeting with one of the local vine-grower. For a little budget you can taste the different types of wine. I did this with my class and after a dozen classes we were all smiling and giggling. Of course, afterwards you can buy the wines you liked most.
Cochem Market

On that day morning it's quite crowded. Tourists rushed into the small city.
In Cochem there are many small shops. The most sell clothes, shoes and suveniours. In city center there are also several bars: dark inside with loud music, people talk and drink alchohol. It' interesting to see different bars.
Touch the belly of the mermaid for good luck
by globetrott
Nice old-fashioned chandeliers of that type with a mermaid in combination with the horns of a deer were quite common in the castles of medieval times and there is a saying, that it will bring you good luck, when you touch the belly of that mermaid.
So you will understand, why the color is almost gone at the place, where all the visitors, including me, touched the poor mermaid.
Good to see that these chandeliers were never electrified, they simply look much more interesting and more authentic that way...
Some good luck....

Okay, lets go inside again. Hahaha, and I promise I won't look outside the window again! :-))
This is a lamp hanging in one of the rooms. But it is not 'just' a lamp! If you touch the lamp on the front side it should bring you luck. And as you can see many have tried this option! The red paint has almost disappeared!
In the background you can see one of the many beautiful ceilings. None of the ceilings in the castle are the same, so don't forget to take a look up as well when you walk through the castle.
