A hotel as it should be.

I have stayed three times at this hotel and have never been disappointed. The hotel is small and sits atop a very steep hill which is quite a climb. A taxi is recommended for the uphill journey if fitness is a problem. It is a quiet hotel with a very high standard in cleanliness and decor. The rooms are distinctive and each room has its own little finishing touches. There is a lovely lounge to enjoy a quiet read and an after dinner coffee. Front rooms look over the Moselle River. The restaurant is of a high standard albeit if you take the standard menu the food comes with a lot of sauce added and the portions could be bigger. The breakfast however is first class and plenty of it. The restaurant setting is excellent with outstanding views.

Unique Quality: Views are unique hence the uphill climb to get to the Hotel.

Moselromantik-Hotel Thul

Hotel Thul is a small hotel (about 30 rooms) where the guests get very personal service. The staff is very friendly, both at the reception and in the restaurant.
The hotel is located in a residential area, somewhat elevated, on the mountain, overlooking the Mosel river and the town centre of Cohem. Walking to town will take about 15 min., walking back to the hotel maybe 30 min. ;)

Rooms are large and very comfortable, with private bathroom (hairdryer), comfy beds with down comforters, cable TV, direct dial phone, some with balcony.

The hotel has its own wellness centre where you can get a professional beauty treatment, medical massages, there's a hair-styling studio, sauna, bio-sauna, solarium, fitness room, tennis table and billiards.

Unique Quality: The service was outstanding, the breakfast buffet plentyful (champagne breakfast every morning).

When we arrived there was a welcome basket in our room with fresh fruits, chocolates and 2 coupons for a free "Kaffee und Kuchen" (home made).

Before our first dinner we were offered a free aperitif.

When we checked out we were offered a photo that had been taken of us during our last dinner.

Very nice gestures!

I will report on the restaurant separately.

An historic Hotel

The Alte-Thorschenke is a nice hotel. It was first established as a hotel in 1332 AD. We only stayed there one night, but found the help to be friendly and helpful.

Making reservations was easy. The rooms are reasonably priced and adequate. The hotel also has a nice terrace out front.

The Hotel is attached to one of the old city gates. (Endertor = End door)

Unique Quality: It was establish in 1332, what more can I say?

Like I said above, the room was adequate.
