Transportation to Frankfurt International Airport
by bethvos
What is the best means of transportation, bus? Or is there a train? Thank you. BethVos

The best way is to take a train to Mannheim and change there into a direct train to Frankfurt airport. You can check times and fares on www.bahn.de
Click on the flag to switch to English.

HBF = Hauptbahnhof = main train station. Your train from Kaiserslautern will take you to the main train station, and it's there that you change into the train to the airport.
The other stops are tram stops within Mannheim, the main station is the first one to show up on the bahn.de website.

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: Kaiserslautern
To: FRA
You don't have to select anything out of the upcoming lists. You can just type in the city names or airport codes and proceed. The system will pick automatically the right train station for you.
Hbf = Hauptbahnhof = main train station
The upcoming list is just name guessing. It can contain train stations or bus stops or whatever. DB timetable knows about all public transport in Germany. You can also query to/from any address.
There is also no reason to query to/from Mannheim separately. The DB timetable will find automatically the fastest connections for you.
Travel Tips for Kaiserslautern
Fritz Walter stadium
by Leipzig
This is the Fritz Walter stadium on the "Betzenberg" hill. It is the most impressive building of the town and can be seen from almst every place in Kaiserslautern. The stadium is currently undergoing a massive restoration because of the 2006 World Cup that will take here. The renovation for the World Cup began in 2002 and has not been finished yet.
Nice Architecture
by Kid-A
Park Strasse is a small street on the south side of the Stadt Park where all the houses survived WWII bombs. The houses are very nice to see. It's a small thing to do, but if you're into architecture, and happen to be in KL, then check it out.
Karina's Home Sweet Home

"A brief sojourn in Germany"
January 2, 1994 - I depart Paris and meet up with my castmate, Karina, in Kaiserslautern. Her parents currently reside here, although she's from Brazil. There's quite a history there. ;) She takes me home to meet her family and spend the night.
January 3, 1994 - Karina says goodbye to her family and we hop on the train in Kaiserslautern to meet up with the rest of our cast in Copenhagen, making brief stops in Frankfurt and Hamburg on the way.
Living it up in K-Town
by KnotH3ad
Lessons I learned in Kaiserslautern:
When drinking, never try to keep up with the Brits
Never wear "dry clean only" when drinking Guiness and Jägermeister at the same time
Never wear white when drinking Guiness and Jägermeister at the same time
Never drink Guiness AND Jägermeister at the same time
Guiness in Europe isn't the same as Guiness in the US. In Europe, it has a higher alcohol content but is smoother
No amount of soap, water and bleach removes Jägermeister
Shot glasses filled with Jägermeister look deceptively small
Jägermeister is the devil in liquid form
German taxi drivers are friendly and very forgiving
