Great little Hotel

by I_AM_CAN about TIPTOP Rheinhotel-Bellavista

This little hotel is out in Braubach just outside of Koblenz and on the banks of the Rhine. The people that run it are Italian and they offer great service. The man knows a little english but the other workers barely new any. But that was have the fun trying to learn a bit of german and italian at the same time.
The rooms were great and the two that I had, had a nice view of the Rhine. The resturuant was nice and cozy and the chef made some great meals. For breakfast it was a very good continental breakfast.
It made a nice starting of point to tour the Rhine area and also hit Koln from there in just about an hour drive.

B&B in Koblenz

by deborar83

Hello
I'm going to spend some days in Koblenz in August.
Does anyone knows a good B&b/Pension/Guesthouse/ferienwohnung in the city center???
Thanks a lot
Debora

Re: B&B in Koblenz

Hi Debora,
there are hardly any B&Bs or guest houses in the city centre of Koblenz. But there are some nice hotels that are not too expensive:

http://www.nationalhotel.de/

There also is a youth hostel at fortress Ehrenbreitstein. It's not at the city centre but it's really nice up there at the fortress and it's also not expenxive:

Cheers,

Travel Tips for Koblenz

About 60 miles west of...

by CMC007

About 60 miles west of Koblenz, you will find the town of Nurburg. There, you will find the world famous Nürburgring race track, and for about 20dm ($10 US) you can drive the 14 miles of the old course in your personal car. You can also hike up to the Nurburg castle and view the area from the top of the keep. I go here every summer and have a fantastic drive and visit. If you are into wine, the Mosel valley, slightly south of the Nürburgring, is Germany's wine-growing region, and Cochem is it's major summer spot.

Frankfurt-Hahn to Koblenz

by aminata

There is a small airport near Koblenz called Frankfurt-Hahn.
You can get there with Ryanair fligths.

There is a bus between Frankfurt-Hahn and Koblenz train station for 12,25 Euro one way.

More information about the airport and a bus timetable under
http://www.hahn-airport.de/english/01/anfahrt/f_anfahrt.htm

Other possibilities are the airports Frankfurt and Cologne.

Deutsches Eck

by Ewingjr98

The Deutsches Eck -- or Corner of Germany -- is a great description of this piece of land where the Mosel and Rhein Rivers meet. Today this public area is dominated by an enormous statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I, who ruled Germany until his death in 1888. The original statue was constructed during his Grandson Wilhelm II's reign, in 1897. Wilhelm II is most famous for his role in starting World War I.

The statue was destroyed in 1945 near the end of World War II, and replaced in 1953 with a monument for Germany's army. In 1993, a replica of the original Wilhelm I statue was erected at this site and stands today.

Festung Ehrenbreitstein

by Mariajoy

A small ferry takes you across to the other side of the Rhein where you can either walk or take the chair lift to the top of the hill where the Fortress stands. From here you can get the very best views of the Deutsches Eck.
