Hotel ZUMMETHOF: Uniquely OVERLOOKING the Mosel
We have not actually stayed here, but have been to their wonderful outside (as well as inside) restarant on both our 2003 and 2009 visits to the area.
They are uniquely situated above Trittenheim on the MOSEL River, and some of their rooms offer this view. They have 52 rooms and when you stay, the use of the sauna/solarium is included. The price varies by views and season, of course, per person.
Unique Quality: During good weather, Panoramic Verandah dining! FABULOUS view over the Mosel River! (see photos 3 & 4)

Feriengut Winnebeck: Stay in a beautiful winefarm
Feriengut Winnebeck is not in Leiwen, but in the next village: Köwerich (which is not in VT). It is one of the biggest winefarms in the area, and they have some guesthouses (for 2 to 6 persons). We stayed in an apartment for 6, and only paid 60 euro per night (for the whole apartment). They only built the guesthouses about ten years ago, so they are brand new and everything you need is there: fully equiped kitchen, nice bedrooms, beautiful balcony, excellent bathroom,... . And everything is super-clean. The buildings are in the middle of the vineyards, so you can't get a more quiet place than this.
Unique Quality: Very pleasant is that the owners organize a winetasting once a week for all their guests. You get to taste about ten of his wines, and are free to buy or not. The evening we had was really nice, and the wines are truly excellent.
Near the entrance of each apartment they put a rack with a selection of their wines. You are free to take a bottle; you just have to tell the owners how many you drank when you leave and they only cost a couple of euro's.
