Beautifully situated next to the Rhein

We stayed at the Hilton Mainz for 33 days while waiting for our house to be ready in early 2011. It was a wonderful stay - the people couldn't have been more friendlier, the service excellent, and the food was great. They were renovating the hotel at the time, but not the part where we stayed so it did not affect us. Since then, we have returned to the hotel recently and the renovations are done and the hotel is beautiful!

Our room was huge with a large walk-in closet and separate bathtub and shower. For a long-term stay like ours, we had ample space and didn't feel cluttered with our stuff. The room has a refrigerator/minibar and free coffee.

Easy parking at the hotel and the hotel is an easy walk from the Dom (cathedral), market square, Altstadt (Old Town), and pretty much anyplace else you want to go in Mainz. There was a secure exit/entrance on the side of the hotel we stayed on so we didn't have to go out the front entrance (the hotel is split between the riverfront and the other side of the road, with an internal bridge going across the street).

There is a massive breakfast buffet each morning with just about anything you could want. I loved the selections of breads they put out each day. While we ate, we could look out and watch the runners go by or see the barges go down the river.

There is a fitness center with several pieces of equipment along with weights.

While there we needed to use the business center for documents and it was always convenient and easy to use.

We got to know many of the employees during our long stay and even celebrated Faschnacht and Christmas with them and their families.

The hotel is expensive, but you do get what you pay for (thankfully our company paid)!

Click HERE for a Googlemap showing the location of the Hilton Mainz (beware that there is another Hilton in Mainz, more in the center of town and closer to the train station).

Unique Quality: I think the best quality of the Hilton is its access to everything in Mainz - we walked everywhere and there were always plenty of choices for things to do or places to eat.

Weekend offers

There were a couple of small hiccups with my stay here: there was work going on somewhere so I had to walk over the bridge from the foyer to get to the room, and they'd made a mistake of some sort with the reservation. BUT the room was excellent (enormous, spotlessly clean, a little characterless, maybe, but I think you'd expect that too) and breakfast was stupendous - huge, and taken in a dining room with a vast wall-window looking out over the Rhine, where barges were slowly passing in the snow. WHAT'S MORE, it cost me less than 50 Euros ! Hilton have special offers at weekends.

Unique Quality: Fabulous breakfast/dining room

Hilton Mainz

I stayed here several times. It's kind of pricey, but if you have the money (or someone else is paying), it's a nice place. The service is excellent. The rooms are clean and large. The restaurant in the hotel is quite expensive, but there are lots of alternatives right nearby.

Unique Quality: It's a good location if you have a car... very easy to get in and out of.
If you're on the right side of the building, you get a nice view of the Rhine.
Also, a few times a year there are some festivals right nearby

Hilton Mainz City

Well, in general in Germany I am recommending the youth hostels of course and then there are the Zimmers. Anyhow, this is the 2nd Hilton in the city of Mainz. It should be nice as Hilton usually is but I am doubt if I will even need to check this one.

The City Hilton, the Rhein...

The City Hilton, the Rhein Hilton or the Hyatt are very comfortable hotels, but they are also very expensive. Cheaper would be the ibis hotel, e.g.
