Spacy hotel room
It is located just next to the main railway station. The room is not small and well-equipped. Its a cozy hotel.
Its 15 minutes walk to the old city center.
Unique Quality: It has a German atmosphere. The bathroom is well-equipped and the bed is good.

Comfortable and easy to find
We stayed att he Hotel Konigshof from 29-31 May,2007. It's in a convenient location across the street from the main train station. We lucked out and paid for a double, but received a triple. The room was a good size and fairly comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly. The breakfast is served at 7, but they will prepare it early on request if you have an early train to catch. This proved quite useful to us!
The area around the train station has lots of restaurants and pubs. Across the way is an internet cafe with really cheap rates. They charge 50 cents flat fee for 30 minutes, then it goes up from there the longer you chat. To get to the computers, you have to climb a small metal spiral staircase. At the bottom of this is a calling company, which has really cheap rates as well. I called Canada for almost 20 minutes and it cost less than 3 Euros! Much better than hotel rates!

Convenience in Mainz
Our stay in this hotel was very enjoyable. The facility is clean, the service is good, the front desk people speak very good English and are helpful. The breakfast is outstanding, far beyond an historical "Continental" breakfast. A grocery store, a parking facility, and a laundromat are all only one block away. This hotel is highly recommended: Good value for the money.
NOTE: The Germans are way ahead of the US in public transportation, but way behind us in "No Smoking" and Splenda!
Unique Quality: This hotel is only one block from the Mainz Haupt Bahnhof (main train station)., and is in walking distance to restaurants, banks, and shopping. (A very good Italian restaurant is in the same block as the hotel: Calabria.) Take a bus (or car) to the Gutenburg Museum and its shopping district, and to Wal-Mart!. There are easy connections to the autobahns to Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Wiesbaden, and other highways to the Nahe Valley and middle Rhein cities.
NOTE: Have a good map of Mainz with you the find the short street, Schottstrasse.
