 | Mainz Hotel Moguntia Reviews | 1 - 2 of 2 | | The Moguntia (the old Roman name for Mainz) is a very comfortable three star hotel within easy walking distance from the station. The big plus points are the price, at about 40 euros a night including breakfast, and the convenient location, only about 10 minutes walk from the main station. The downsides were mostly in the environs. The hotel is located on the grotty side of the city, in Mainz's ghetto, and it might put some people off to walk through the blocks of grim high rise buildings at night, but it felt very safe once I found my bearings. The people seemed friendly, just not the wealthiest of the city's population. The hotel itself is in a quiet backstreet off the main drag off Boppstrasse, although the residents make an effort to make a quiet street noisy. The only other complaints are just niggles: my shower head could not be attached to anything and the advertised WAN internet connection didn't work. The rooms are huge, but the beds small, and the rooms at the front have a nice balcony, but the views are only of the houses opposite! Hotel Moguntia is a good three stars hotel, located about 1.5 Km from the Mainz downtown and 500 meters from the railway station, in a residential and calm zone. The hotel has got 20 rooms; my room (a triple room) was very big and very comfortable for three people. All rooms are equipped with TV, telephone, shower and hair dryer. Free internet connection is allowed in the reception. The hotel has got an own garage (booking is request) on the underground floor.
The room was very big and clean. The breakfast was very good: you have a wide choice of cereals and bread; there were also eggs, cheese, yougurt and fresh fruit...a good way to start the day. Leave a Comment
