Baloon Flights
by gypsyT.
A hot air balloon flight is a special experience and a most unusual adventure. Enjoy the tingle during lift-off and landing, the tranquility in the balloon, the fascinating bird's eye perspective high above the Trier countryside.

The house of the three Magi
by sargentjeff
On the way along Simeonstrasse you will notice the unusual building on the left, the House of the Three Magi (Dreikoenigenhaus), built around 1230 when Trier's medieval city wall was not yet finished.
Each house had to defend itself and the entrance was the »window« on the right, accessible only by ladder or wooden staircase that could be pulled up (Trier still has six such Romanesque residential towers, the Frankenturm / Dietrichstrasse from around 1100 being the oldest).
The doors level with the street are modern; there is a café inside, Graham Greene's bakerie in The Name of Action; the color scheme of the house, however, is the recreation of considerable original remains.
Christmas market
by Helga67
Germany is well-known for its Christmas markets. Every year, thousands of people come to Germany around Christmas time to visit them.
Of course, Trier has its own Christmas market. From around mid November to about two days before Christmas you can visit the Christmas market at the Hauptmarkt and in front of the Cathedral.
The Christmas markets are open daily from 10:00 (Sunday: 11:00) am to 8:30 pm.

Around and About
by antistar
Trier is up in the North West of Germany, near the borders of Luxembourg and France. It's an easy day trip across the border, especially to Luxembourg. More locally you can take also take easy side trips to Saarbrucken, the capital of one of Germany's smallest states. Don't miss it's fascinating satellite town of Volklingen, with its amazing and enormous UNESCO protected relic of the state's industrial history.
The Moselle river provides even more things to do if you get bored in Trier. Trips on boats or train down the Moselle to Koblenz have all kinds of sights to see on route. Two of the highlights are the small town of Cochem, and the incredible Castle Eltz. I haven't had chance yet to get up to Castle Eltz, but you will understand from visiting the website below why it's high on my list of places to visit next in Germany.
