Recently we stayed in the NH Hotel Trier for one night because we were invited to a wedding there. We chose the cheapest hotel available because we knew that we wouldn't sleep a lot anyway. The hotel was nothing special and a bit run down (from the outside and the inside). The 14th floor we stayed on seriously need some renovation work but the view over Trier was great and so was the price. 49 EUR for a very large room with two huge beds. Also there is free parking and a taxi into town costs less than 8 EUR.
The building the NH is located in is among the ugliest buildings of Trier. Also the location right next to the big roundabout leading all roads into Trier isn't anything special. And there was a strange smell on the corridors and in the rooms. But for the same price I would still stay here again if it's only for half a night.
