A walk in Oberrabenstein forest
Oberrabensteiner Wald is a beautiful forest at the western end of Chemnitz. If you're tired of seeing communist blocks, you may want to go for a walk here. Especially in wintertime, it looks like from a fairytale. As Chemnitz is situated on the north rim of the Ore Mountains, we get lots of snow almost every winter. The forest then turns to a fairytale landscape!
Btw, there's also a deer pen in the forest. Moreover, at the east side of the forest a reservoir can be found where swimming is possible in the summer months (May to October). It's a very nice lake half hidden in the forest. There are also saunas and areas reserved for naturists.
Getting there is best accomplished by car. By bus you have to take tram no 2 to "Schönau" and then bus no 253 to "Stausee Oberrabenstein"
