Dresden Tip
by DesertRat
In 1989 visitors to Dresden -- or any other East German city -- had terrible problems finding restaurants. Their hours were unreliable, the service was appallingly slow, and the food was unimaginative at best. And fast food was almost unobtainable apart from the odd ice-cream or sausage stand. Finding any place to sit down and munch was a trial; finding one that was actually attractive was impossible.

a romantic wedding-bureau in Dresden
by globetrott
When you plan your marriage in Dresden, THIS might be the perfect place for the wedding-bureau / Standesamt for you !
Just click on my pictures and take a closer look for that great architecture and romantic fresco at the entrance-hall.
Just a pity, this place is open during the week, BUT NEVER on a saturday and sunday !!
I found it myself accidentially, when I left the hop-on-hop-off citytourbus in Goetheallee in order to take a few photos of the Elbe and castle Albrechtsberg.
This nice building may be found at the crossing of Goethestrasse and Vogesenweg.
The officehours are - just in case :
Monday : 08.00a.m. - 12.00 noon
Tuesday : 08.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon
+ 02.00p.m. - 06.00p.m.
Thursday : 02.00p.m. - 06.00p.m.
With these officehours, it is certainly a hard job there ;-))
Dippoldiswalde is a lovely...
by richiecdisc
Dippoldiswalde is a lovely village 45 minutes south of Dresden on the way to Prague. Despite its medieval core few tourists venture here aside from perhaps those from the former East Germany reliving their mountain vacations. It's a shame as its not only beautiful but was saved any damage from the WWII bombings that leveled Dresden. Thanks to Doreen for showing her hometown to me.
Now, years later I am married to Doreen so I go to Dipps (as locals call it) every year. It never ceases to amaze me that I seem to be the ONLY tourist in town.

Café Börse
by Leipzig about Café Börse
In the Wöhrl Plaza at Prager Strasse is this cafe. On the first floor and you have an excellent view on the streetlife from every table. The flair reminds on a stock exchange (= "Börse" in German). Just had a coffee here. Quite expensive but the panorama view worth it.
