Luggage Storage
by weitihcheng4
Are there luggage storage facilities in the Leipzig station? I would like to store my luggage (one mid-size suitcase) for a few hours so I can tour the city before boarding the next train to Dresden.
Thank you for your assistance!
Sincerely,
Weitihcheng4

There are different options at the main station in Leipzig. The website is in German only but essentially points at three different possibilities: luggage storage with operator (open from 6 am to 11 pm, cost 3 Euro per item on the westside) and lockers (2 - 4,50 Euro depending on the size of the locker). Kofferkulis are luggage transport chariots.

Well, I would assume the situation is the same as described in my previous post. Various options you can choose from.

Olympic games 2012 in Leipzig?
by chicabonita
Leipzig won the nomination for the games 2012 of all German cities. My favorite was Frankfurt. But now I also hope that Leipzig will make it as Olympia city for 2012. I believe it won't be easy. So gross the fingers and lets wait and see ...
NextBike

1. Three NextBikes at Leipzig Main Station
2. With me you burn at least 300 kcal per hour
NextBike is a private bicycle sharing system that is quite similar to DB Call-a-Bike except that it is partially paid for by advertising directly on the bike -- and it is cheaper. Rental of a NextBike costs one Euro per hour or five Euros for up to 24 hours -- five Euros as opposed to nine for Call-a-Bike.
As I mentioned on one of my Dresden tips, online registration for NextBike is easy provided you are willing to give them your credit card number and cell phone number. Registration costs one Euro, which is applied to your first bike rental.
In Leipzig I found these three NextBikes (first photo) right in front of the main station. The first two I tried to rent were not available for rental, according to the voice on my cell phone, but the third one was, so after finally getting the combination I unlocked it and rode off.
The reason I had trouble getting the combination is that this is a very loud street, with lots of roaring trucks and screeching streetcars coming by just at the time when you are trying to understand the combination number from the cell phone. So next time I am going to look for a NextBike in some quiet corner away from the traffic noise.
While I was riding around I came across another NextBike chained to a fence (second photo) with the slogan "With me you burn at least 300 kilocalories per hour."
Antikhaus
by Leipzig about Reinhardt's Pelle, Eierei und Fregatte
This is my favorite restaurant in the city. Three restaurants in one location.
Pelle: (German word for peel). Here you get all menus with potatos.
Eierei: (German for egg-location). Here you get all menues with eggs.
Fregatte: (German word for frigate). Here you get all menues with fish. unfortunately it has closed since a few weeks but you can order the dishes in the other two restaurants
Inside the building you can also find an irish Pub and the Buschfunk, a nightclub.
Poke your nose into any open doorway…
by Kathrin_E
Leipzig’s old town is full of courtyards and indoor passages among old and new houses behind the street facades. Poke your nose into any open doorway and see what you’ll find behind. The prettiest and best known among them are Mädlerpassage, Barthels Hof and Specks Hof (see separate tips) but there are many more.
Questions and Answers
Q: Train Station Luggage Store "Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a place to store luggage in the station for upto 48 hours?
Thanks"
A: "Leipzig is a big station, so they will have that for sure.
Normally these boxes will take money for the first 24 hours and when you have them there for 48 hours you have..."
