Bus from Leipzig to Dresden

by LaurenK

Hi,

I'm looking for information on bus timetables/prices for a return ticket from Leipzig to Dresden. I can find info on trains but as they're quite expensive I thought I'd check out the buses.

Does anyone know how long the journey takes by bus from Leipzig Hauptbanhof to Dresden Zentrum and how much it costs. Links to any bus company websites would be helpful.

Thanks!

Very easy.
No buses between Leipzig and Dresden.
Just as there are no buses between any other pair of big German cities (Hamburg/Berlin are an exception).

Buses are there mainly to connect places without train stations.

Hello,
I have just the SAME question. So no bus between Dresden and Leipzig, ok. So I wanna know, how much the back-train Dr.-Leip. is? I dont know where to search for it, because I dont speak German. Thanx.

www.bahn.de is the German rail website, you can view the site in English too. I think the return price from Leipzig-Dresden is about 50Euro but I'm not sure.

Go to Leipzig tower ..i dont...

by marenloo

Go to Leipzig tower ..i dont remember its name now and should ask about it.It represents victory against the french army of Napoleon Bonaparte.'The tower you surely mean is called: 'Völkerschlachtdenkmal' (= Monument of the Battle of the Nations)' ***This correction is made by VT friend Leipzig****
Now some of people commit suicide by throwing theirselves from that tower. I'm not going to forget the train station (bahnhof)
the huge snow,,,and of course the eastern stamp of the city which tries to follow the west.

Grassi Museum

by Kathrin_E

The large museum complex unites three collections: the museum of ethnology, the museum of arts and crafts and the museum of musical instruments.

Even if you do not plan to go in, walking through the courtyards is worthwhile because of its remarkable 1920s art déco architecture. From the last courtyard you enter the old Johannis cemetery (see separate tip). The museum was built in 1925/27 in the grounds of the former Hospital of St John’s (Johannisspital).

an empty modern airport

by miromi

the leipzig airport is one of the most modern in Germany but it is also one of the emptiest. I guess they overestimated the flights that would come here... it's huge, dwarfing any of Berlin's 3 airports, and ultra modern and sleek, but really one of the emptiest major regional airports you'll ever see in your life.

the Thomas Church

by margaretvn

Visit the Thomas Church where the composer J.S.Bach worked for many years. The composer is buried in the church. Outside the church is a wonderful statue of the composer.
The church is late Gothic built in 1482-96. There are lovely Renaissance galleries which were built in 1570 by Hieronymus Lotter.
We went to a service in the church , they are held on friday evenings and saturday afternoons.

Leipzig Zoo

by richiecdisc

Leipzig's Zoo combines an old zoo style with many modern innovations. It had a great open feeling and the animals all seemed quite content with their habitats, which accounts for its being a top breeding zoo. There was a great assortment of animals and a great aviary too. Well worth the price of admission: 7.50 Euros.
