Hi Devinder,

the cheapest way to travel is "Mitfahrzentrale"

Try www.mitfahrzentrale.de

Sorry, the sites are only in german.

But it is easy to handle the page.

If you are looking for a opportunity to travel there is a small pannel "Suche nach Fahrgemeinschaften"

von = from Deutschland = Germany
then select "Frankfurt" (be careful, there are two Frankfurt in Germany. I guess you mean Frankfurt/Main (it is the city with an international airport)
nach = to
select "Leipzig"
Datum = Date

And then chose "Mitfahrinserate" = opportunities to travel

Frankfurt to Leipzig by plane is very expensive;

An other, not really cheap opportunity, is the railway.

Find more information at www.bahn.de

Cheers
Karin

The southern region of Leipzig

by Leipzig

The southern region of Leipzig bears the scars of lignite mining begun about 200 years ago. The enormous dimensions of former open-cast mining are still clearly visible in the countryside. The redevelopment of the mining landscape south of Leipzig was also a project for the World Exposition EXPO 2000.

A neighbourhood cafe

by german_eagle about Café Grundmann

This is a *must* if you want to hang out at a place where the locals go. And if you are a fan of Art Decò interior. Wow. Simply beautiful. And the food is delicious as well ... I had a ruccola salad with baked goat cheese, freshly squeezed orange juice, then nothing for a while LOL and after an hour reading the newspaper and people watching I had a Leipziger Lerche, a local specialty (pastry) and a coffee (Großer Brauner) that came with a glass of water. Wow again.

Bavarian Railway Station

by William1982

The Bavarian Railway Station in Leipzig is the oldest railway terminus in the world. It was opened in September 1844, then linking the kingdoms of Saxony and Bavaria. Now it stands as a monument to a grand age.

Its location is South of the city centre towards the Battle of Nations monument. Maps can be found in the Tourist info centre opposite the main railway station.

Main Railway Station

by antistar

Leipzig has a prestigious railroad history. It was the terminal of Germany's first long distance railway line, from Dresden to Leipzig, and soon became a hub of Central European railway traffic. It's famous old station has been renovated since the old East German times, and the massive new station is the biggest of its kind in Europe.

It's impressive architecture can be seen when passing through on the ICE route from Munich to Berlin, although you are not actually passing through at all, as it is a terminal station. The huge building contains not only the station, but a multistoried complex of shops and restaraunts. It's one of the nicest places to change trains in Europe.
