Weekends Train tickets
by jinwenwang
Weekend train tickets at euro28 for free travel within Germany, but not allowed to take faster train, ie.ICE, IC, etc.
So have to evaluate the cost of your time and your pocket money :-)
It takes 9hr 30 min from Leipzig to Aachen, and 12 hours "bed-to-bed" from Renaissance Hotel Leipzig to my bed in Maastricht...lol :-)

PentaHotel Leipzig
by flyer1955
I was wondering if anyone has seen or stayed at the recently re-done Leipzig PentaHotel? I'm going to be in Leipzig for a couple of days in early December. I'm booked into the Radisson Blu Hotel, in part due to its excellent location directly across from the concert hall. That said, I stumbled on the Pentahotel's website earlier this evening and it looked interested-- almost too good to be true. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

My wife, pug and me staid in the Penta Hotel Leipzig this August (2009). It is a super hotel! The price-ratio-value is fantastic. The lobby is odd and very pleasant. Odd, because the reception counter is also the bar in the middle of the lobby. They used nice materials and good light instalation to create a pleasant atmosphere. The stuff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice as well. Mostly an ordinary hotel room, but with atractive design elements and a good bathroom. The new-world style bed was very comfortable. They serve good food in a bistro corner until 23h (biggger choice until 22h). I can't say anything about the breakfast, because with the current high charges for breakfast in mostly every hotel we prefer to have brought-by-ourselfs Müsli in the room. The highlight is the swimming pool and sauna which is open 24 hours. The location could be a bit closer to the city centre, but it is not a drama. By foot it will take you approx. 15 minutes to get there. By car it is less than 5 minutes. The hotel has its own, not too expensive underground parking. The area around the hotel is peaceful and quiet. I can absolutely recommend this hotel!
