Leipzig Car Service/Airport Transfers

by lizzie1955

I wonder if anyone can suggest a limo or cab service in Leipzig that pre-books airport tranfers. My hotel can arrange a car but the cost seemed excesive -- €85,00 one way. I know the express train is an option but I would prefer door to door if possible. Thanks.

Well, a taxi seems to be easier and probably also cheaper than 85 Euro.

After doing dome homework, it seems the easiest thing to do is take the 5-minute walk to the train station and take the express train.

The best way is by airport shuttle or suburban train. Taxis are available in front of the airport. Do not worry, there are plenty of them so you do not need to book in advance. If you want to travel with plenty of comfort, you can hire a limo here: http://www.interline-limo.com/ or here: http://www.revilo-limo.de/ . An hour is about 30 Euros.

Thanks again Chris. I probably train or cab it in from the airport as I am going to try for an earlier connecting flight at the last minute. However, I might just give myself the "gift" of a car to the airport on Saturday morning.

Travel Tips for Leipzig

see and properly will see at first when taking the train is the station: newly renovated, massive with shops inside. You´ll find everything there; if you get lost in Leipzig, then it´s highly likely that you are inside the station. :-))) Having a beer at the 'Moritz- bastei', a small complex with pubs and various stages for performances and cinema.

St. Alexi Memorial Church

by german_eagle

This Russian-Orthodox church was built to commemorate the 22'000 Russian soldiers killed in the Battle of Nations in 1813.

The church was erected 1912/13 according to plans of a Russian and two Leipzig architects, designed after the model of the Ascension-of-Christ-Church in Moscow-Kolomenskoye (1530-32). The tall building (like a tower) with golden onion-like dome is beautifully decorated in Art-Deco style. Inside you see a huge Ikonostasis (height 18 m). The chandelier was donated by the Tsar. Unfortunately the crypt with tombs of killed Russian Generals and soldiers is not available.

Stadtgeschichtliches Museum in the Old City Hall

by Kathrin_E

The renaissance halls have been occupied by the historical museum for the last 100 years. This is worth seeing, not only because of the interior of the rooms. The presentations include a large model of the city as it was in the 18th century, the magistrate’s treasures and a lot about the town’s history and culture.

Thomas Church

by nepalgoods

This church is home of the famaous boy's choire Thomas-Chor. Johan Sebastian Bach worked at this church and with the choire in the 18th century. I was very much impressed by an exhibition of old music instruments of this time in a side-room of the church.
