Sonnenhotel am Hohen Hahn: Top Hotel in Remote Location

Hoher Hahn is a hilltop above Bermsgrün, a suburb of Schwarzenberg. This indicates a location in beautiful landscape with wide views over the Ore Mountains, surrounded by forests and meadows. Bermsgrün is a small village without much infrastructure and even to the village it is a bit of a walk. The hotel is excellent and the food at the restaurant was fine. But it is meant for people who travel by car. Getting there by public transport is inconvenient.

The history of the buildings begins in the 1920s when communist workers from Schwarzenberg volunteered to build a house for their meetings and activities up here. After the reunification the complex became a hotel, it was restored and extended. Only recently the previously private-owned hotel has been sold to the chain of "Sonnenhotels".

Plus:
Large, spacious modern rooms and ditto bathrooms, good beds, spotless clean.
Quiet, green surroundings, wide view, fresh air.
Swimming pool and other wellness areas.
Restaurant with very good food.

The only minus:
The remote location and lack of public transport. There is a bus line from Schwarzenberg but it runs but a couple of times a day and ends in Bermsgrün, there is still a notable walk uphill to the hotel. With luggage, walking is not an option. I took a taxi from Schwarzenberg train station. If you phone the reception and ask vey nicely they might even pick you up.
