When I started looking for hotels in Wittenberg, I was surprised how expensive most of them were. True, it is a nice town which attracts lots of tourists, but still not in the same category as Berlin, for example. Finally I got a good deal from the Best Western Stadtpalais by booking far ahead.
The hotel is right in the centre of the old town, luckily with its own parking garage. An elevator takes you up from the garage to the reception, really convenient. Parking inside the old town is difficult, so this was one of the features which had made me book this hotel.
Our room was nice and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We had a very pleasant stay.
As always with Best Western the rack rate is high, but I don't think anyone ever pays that.
We paid 83 Euro per night, plus 10 or 12 Euro for breakfast.
This must be cool: there's a youth hostel in the castle. As I live near Wittenberg I never stayed here. But I bet it is a great experience to sleep in a castle.
