Quedlinburg is painstakingly restoring its old buildings one by one but years of GDR budget means that quite a few houses in the side streets are still neglected and this shows. It is actually quite fascinating, if sad, to walk around the centre and realise that this town is so full of great buildings that those in need of major work are still plenty. Click on the picture and you'll see what I mean - it's only a block away from the Half-timbering museum!
