Bad Oldesloher Hof: Nice hotel, friendly staff, huge breakfast
On my way up north to the ferry in Kiel (to travel further on to Sweden) I didn’t like to rush, thus I looked at the map and decided that Bad Oldeslohe would be the best choice to stay for a night. It proved to be a good decision and I was even a bit sorry that I couldn’t stay longer because the region is really pretty.
The hotel is located close to the city centre, has nice rooms with all I needed (shower and bathroom) and a very very nice and helpful staff. The bathroom interior might not be everyone’s taste (brownish tiles from some time ago), but it worked and that’s all that mattered to me. I got my latte macchiato upon arriving after this horrible drive (bad weather, traffic jams) and felt “holiday”.
The breakfast was amazing. I realise now that I took the photo from a wrong angle, because it does not show the huge selection of sausage and cheese and marmalade/jam. I got really good coffee, orange juice (as much as I wanted), 4 rolls and the mentioned big selection of sausage, cheese and jam and eggs to my liking. They had an excellent taste in decoration: coffee theme. From this point, I preferred that their taste was showing in the breakfast room :-)
I paid 51 Euro for my single room with breakfast (July 2009). All major credit cards accepted.
Unique Quality: Directions:
at A21 (Autobahn/motorway) from Hamburg to Kiel take exit 17a and drive eastward. This is already Hamburger Strasse. Follow the street until you almost arrive in the city centre. It is on the right hand side of the street.
From the train station, it is too far to walk. Taxi or bus would be better. Although I'm afraid I don't know the bus schedules and lines.
