by KittsHill
My Wife and I rode the Train South to Lubben. The Canal Ride by Pole Boat was about
3 Hours.9 Euros each.Returned by Motor Power.Lap Blakets were Provided.We went through
4 Locks. It is the Custom to leave a Coin or two on the wall for the Lock Master operating the
water level change mechanism.
The Back Yards of the Summer Residents was worth the Trip alone. And moments of solitude encouraged the Photos of the area with White Clouds as background.

The lavishly-decorated palace theatre in the southern side wing is still used for performances today. There is an annual open air classical music festiv al that is conducted here on the grounds in the summer.
Saschenhausen Concentration Camp
by Jgiii
Only a 45 minute trip outside of the city, this grim reminder of Europe's dark past awaits. Saschenhausen was the model camp of all other nazi era concentration camps and, sadly, many of the survivors here went on to be exterminated at Auschwitz. I took the self guided tour with the headphones available at the front desk and would suggest this for others. You can speed along in sections where you aren't as interested and listen to more stories at parts where you are more interested. It's quite a sad experience, but life changing in its own way. I think all the racist folks in the world should be forced to tour a concentration camp, it may change their way of thinking. Seeing the execution platform and the ovens is something I will never forget.
Reichstag Dome
by bpwillet
This is one of the most striking aspects of this remodelled building. Built by Norman Foster, this glass dome houses a glass "tornado" on the interior of the Reichstag. The very top of which houses a great cafe with wonderful veiws of the city. It is lit up at night and could almost serve as a beacon of light.
Rotes Rathaus

The red bricked town hall stands just off the plaza which sits the Fernsehturm tower. It is the official seat of the mayor and was built in the late 1800's. Badly damaged during WWII it was used by the East Berlin Magistrate in the 50's after its reconstruction.
