Hi there,
I will be looking to travel from Lubeck to Warnemunder on Monday 6th july.Is there good public transport links between these towns or should I hire a car?I have been to Lubeck before, but never travelled in this direction.
Thanks for any advice.

Lübeck and Warnemünde are connected by train. There are various options involving between 1 and 2 changes and the cost is approximately 25 to 28 Euro one way.
For the train schedule look at http://www.deutschebahn.com/site/bahn/en/start.html
Here you will find all information and you can also book your ticket.

You can also use
http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml
You will have to put in 'Luebeck' to search unless you have access to an umlaut symbol.
You do not need to buy tickets in advance, but you can get a reduction on some trains on 6/7 (19 euros instead of 22.90+) if you book online. Bahn de will send tickets abroad (for a fee) or you can print off an e-ticket. If you do the latter make sure you take the same credit card with you as you used to book, as the guard/inspector may wellwant to see it.

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: Lübeck Hbf
From: Lübeck Flughafen
To: Warnemünde
If you cannot type umlauts use Luebeck and Warnemuende instead.
Just omitting the dots is not OK.
Lübeck Flughafen = Lübeck Airport

Are you sure it's Warnemünde, not Travemünde?
Travemünde is Lübeck's harbor, Warnemünde is basically Rostock's harbor.

Yes it was Warnemunder. We were at Travemunder last year.It was beautiful, but we could not secure accommadation,so we are staying further up the coast.

There is no bus option.
You can travel from Lübeck Airport to Warnemünde on a Schleswig-Holstein Ticket if you stick to regional trains. EUR 30,00 for up to 5 persons traveling together. Select at the DB timetable as means of transport "only local transport" to ensure that you get only connections you can use with this ticket.
Travel Tips for Lübeck
Hanse-town Lübeck - Marzipan and Holstentor
by chancay
Beautiful traditional harbour town at the baltic sea. Famous for its marzipan, its beautiful old town and of course the Holstentor (in former times part of city protection). All around Lübeck you find a lot of green fields where sheeps, horses and cows still live their peaceful lifes.
In my travelogues I´ve got some pictures of it.
Wiener Schnitzel
by sim1
It had been so long ago since I had been in Germany and I felt like having something typical German (hahaha, in my opinion anyway) : a Wiener Schnitzel Wiener. It was served with lemon, anchovies, capers, roasted potatoes or French fries and a salad .I choose for the regular portion (which is really big!) for 13,- euro. A small portion will cost you 10,50 euro.
The food tasted okay, but not spectacular. The Wiener schnitzel was a bit tasteless, which was a bit of a disappointment to me as I was looking forward to it so much. All in all it was okay, I just can't say it was super good food, but it wasn't bad either.

Marienkirche
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
Marienkirche was constructed as the sample of the French cathedrals during blossoming Luebeck in the end of the thirteenth century. It was a face of burghers pride of the city.
Marienkirche is faimous by the biggest in the world mechanical organ and two split ancient four-ton bells of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The church has served as the sample for numerous kirches all over Germany.
BUDDENBROOK HOUSE LüBECK
by eden_teuling
You can find the famous BUDDENBROOK HOUSE in Mengstrasse nr. 4
It was built in 1758, in BAROQUE STYLE and was owned by the MANN family from 1841 - 1891.
It was pure good luck that during the air raid of 1942 (World War II bombardments) its façade escaped damage!!
Today it is the Heinrich and Thomas MANN CENTRE.
Heinrich and Thomas were brothers and both were authors.
Thomas lived from 1875 - 1955 and was preoccupied with the duality of artistic and practical life.
He has quite some books to his name such as: the BUDDENBROOKS, written in 1901, hence the name of this house.
This house was used as location for the television series THE BUDDENBROOKS.....
