Gasthaus & Hotel Zur Linde
Lovely little hotel with 12 spacious rooms, a restaurant annex pub and free internet (just ask for the connection details).
We stayed here for 6 nights and we were welcomed with smiles, almost felt like locals every night we walked into the bar/restaurant and people asked how our day was and putting drinks in front of us, already knowing what we liked.
It was a nice, reasonably central point from which to explore the area.
It's a simple hotel, clean and friendly. Note: no hair dryer in rooms!
Our 6 nights, 3 dinners (for two) and various drinks of coffee and alcohol amounted to a total of € 505 for the whole lot. Not bad eh?
Note: you will sometimes find the address to be Rennsteigstrasse 30, but it is the main street anyway.
Unique Quality: Price: € 30 per person per room (spacious, WC, shower, TV, minibar that you can fill with your own stuff), incl. breakfast (which included really fresh boiled eggs every morning).
Half board is € 10, full board is € 15 per person. Eating a la carte, you will find that the menu has no main courses over € 10, yet the food is excellent, wholesome, although not haute cuisine of course. I tasted the best Thüringer Klösse here, actually.
In the evenings the locals meet up here, various clubs hold meetings, it's generally quite lively for such a little village, despite there being other hotel/pubs at walking distance.
I would certainly recommend this hotel, and personally I'd even like to return again.
By the way, room 9 is where we stayed, it's just under the little tower (in the photo 1 of the windows is open and I'm looking out :-)
Directions: Hauptstrasse means Main Street, it's just in the center and well signposted.
