Residenzhaus: a great hostel in the centre of Eisenach

In Thueringen just as well as in the rest of the former DDR it is hard to tell by the facade of a building, what level of prices will be charged.From outside Residenzhaus looked first like a posh place with noble prices, but what a surprise, it was cheap and so I stayed a few days.
A tiny old castle was transfered into a modern hostel in a funny way with larger rooms for big families and a few single and double-rooms, some of which were even equipped with a waterbed. So I tried out the single-room with the waterbed for 30 euros, with an ordinary bed it would have been 5 euros cheaper. The 2nd day I asked for an ordinary single and got a single bed in a room of 8 beds, all for myself and it included my own bathroom for just 25 euros. A large breakfast was always included in these prices and I may highly recommend this place !

Unique Quality: My 1st room, the one with the waterbed, but it did not have its own facilities, BUT it provided a fine bathing-coat for the guest (me) , so I could easily walk to the bathroom around the corner. A large parking is directely in front of the hotel, only during the day you pay for parking there !
Unfortunately the large room had no curtains at all, the streetlight was shining into it the whole night and the guests of the hotel at the other side of the narrow sidestreet ( 5 meters distance) could take a look into the room as well.
My single-room with the waterbed was facing nobody and had a curtain...

Rennsteighof Ruhla: Inmidst the Thuringian Forest, Ruhla

In a fascinating and calm surrounding, close to the famous Rennsteig and near of town Ruhla is a nice hotel. Comfortable and with a nice interior also the restaurant. Sitting on the big terrace with view to the forest and small park is wonderful for stressed people.
Service and meals are good, but not grand.

Wintersteiner Hof: In nice surrounding, Winterstein

In the midst of Winterstein there is really a nice hotel. Winterstein is a small village in the near of my hometown Tabarz.
The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the service is very good. Hotel is also with sauna, solarium and chimney room and good for business travelers.
The breakfast is great, you will miss nothing.
The other dinners are local ones. Good, but not special. I missed something unique on menu.

Schlossberg Dornburg: With Romantic View, Dornburg

An hotel with excellent view! Above river Saale, situated directly at entrance to park grounds and Castles, really beautiful stay.
The restaurant has a very beautiful ambiente, good dinners and service.

Camping "Paulfeld": Wonderful campground

A very beautiful international campground in the heart place of Thuringia, big but also personal based. In the midst of forests, with one fishing lake, lake for swimming, baking-oven, restaurant and more.

Hotel on the Wartburg: Great experience, Eisenach

BTW, website in English and with own webcam to Castle.

Unique Quality: So close to this castle? Think it need no more words. Additionally I was very impressed about the rooms, or better the historic (and new) ambiente. The chimney room is ... wow! Abot the Room of Coat of Arms I got wide eyes. That´s why you should look up for my pictures.

Hotel "Waldhaus" in Waltershausen: Hotel and restaurant with charme, Waltershausen

One hotel and restaurant with special charme. Only 5 km far from Tabarz you find this little hotel, quite around the corner. 10 bedrooms and in the main room of restaurant places for 35 persons, in the little hall for 50 persons (celebrations), in the elegance Ashley room for 25 persons. Outdor dining places exist for 30 persons. The last with a beautiful view over the town and nice landscape.

A very quite and peaceful location.

Also recommendable the Cuisine kitchen. Dinners are excellent!

At time no picture, so please, visit the website. Also to have a look for rooms and restaurant.

Unique Quality: The host tooks the herbs for dinners at that time when the cook "works" for your dinner in the kitchen ;-) So you can be sure you get only and really super fresh herbs. And what for ones! Ask him - he will tell you what is growing in his garden.

Price of 40-60 Euro for overnights.

Dinners are low/normal prized.
