When I came to Mühlhausen for the first time in February 2001 - which is when my photos on this page were taken - I did not expect much. The trip was for business reasons, I had to do some research in the town and church archives for an exhibition in Magdeburg. I found a pleasant suprise. The proud history of the former imperial city has left its marks. Neither the war nor 40 years of socialism have destroyed the old town flair. Not all buildings were in perfect shape but they are still there.
When I returned for another research and another project in September 2004 even more restoration work had been done. In case you are travelling in Thüringen, don't miss this town halfway between Eisenach and the Harz mountains, and share my surprise.
