Oberhof is the starting point for hikers aiming for the peaks of the Thuringian Forest. Nearby is the Grosser Beerberg - at 982 metres the highest point in Thuringia: from Oberhof there is an ideal route to the summit. It´s also worth a hike to the Schneekopf - almost as high at 978 m - to enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over the whole of the Thuringian Forest.
