Many of Weimar's houses have some quotation painted at their walls. Here's one that I found particularly wise and interesting:
"Wenn Sie das Leben kennen, geben Sie mir doch bitte seine Anschrift!" (Jules Renard)

Where else better to put a statue of a poet than in the town of Weimar. Weimar celebrates its cultural and artistic identity by placing surprising all who visit. This statue is located on the sidewalk running along the Ilm River park.
A hotel has stood on this sight since at least 1696. The present Elephant Hotel was completely rebuilt in 1938. Adolf Hitler use to stand on the balcony giving speeches to the crowds in the Market Square below and reviewing troops. A cut out figure now stands in the same position. Numerous other famous people have stayed in Weimar’s most famous hotel including Leo Tolstoy and J. S. Bach.
Visiting this theater you can see first of all the monument to Goethe and Schiller dedicated in 1857 and built by Ernst Rietschel.

There are always flowers at the foot of the monument.
You can see and hear theater and opera performances at this theater. There are also concerts of the Weimar State Orchestra and Franz Liszt College of Music here.

My friends and I were very impressed by both its exterior and the interior. No doubt that visiting this theater is a must for any visitor of Weimar.
The Duchess Anna Amalia Library houses a major collection of German literature and historical documents. The library contains almost 1 million books, 2000 medieval and early modern manuscripts, 600 ancestral registers 10 000 maps and 4000 musical scripts.
The treasure of the library is its famous Rococco hall where you can retrace Goethes footsteps.
Don´t miss it. Would be a pity.
Please note that for reasons of conservation, the number of visitors is limited to 80 visitors per day. You need to buy your tickets two days in advance best and you get tickets with given time.
