Pension Liesbachtal: Nice Guesthouse next to the wood

I was only here for a stop while going to italy for the north of germany. the pfeuffers family was so nice, that I thought it should be included. Me and my wife were very happy with the room comfort and breakfast. If you have a question about the rhoen, mrs. pfeuffer will try to give a answer to your questions.

Rooms start at 17 Euro /person, including breakfast.
In addition to their rooms with a personal touch, they have a sauna and a wintergarden where you can just sit and relax. They have also a nice garden to spend the day and grill some steaks. Nearby is a lake called burgwallbacher see. it is such a nice like. you should really go there if you join this nice guesthouse.

For the quality they offer it is an amazing deal in Germany!

Sauna, Grill in the garden, nearby a nice lake, great wood view.

Gasthaus Kehl: Kehl's Lodge

Actually, I haven't stayed here, because it's literally just down the street where I live. But I do book here, when I have friends that come to visit. The Kehls belong to the "local gentry" because their son, Sebastian Kehl, is on the German National Soccer Team. This hasn't really gone to their heads, though, and they still personally welcome international guests to the Rhoen. The Kehls have two buildings; the one pictured is directly on the main highway, and the other is about a half a mile away and is a bit away from the main highway, if you are sensitive to noise - not that there's a lot of traffic in Rhön at night anyway.

The best part of the Kehl's Lodge is that they are clean, comfortable, and inexpensive. For as little as 25 Euro per night including breakfast, you'll have a heard time finding any other affordable rooms anywhere else in central Europe with this quality.

Rooms are with showers and private bathrooms
Single including breakfast is: 25.00 Euro
After the 4th night, the price drops to 19.50 Euro per night

In the winter they have discounts (from January 15th - February 15th and November 15th - December 2nd) 2 nights with breakfast and dinner: 59.00 Euro
1 Week with breakfast and dinner (6 nights) 162.00 Euro
(Including taxes per person with double occupancy)
Surcharge for single rooms: 6.00 Euro
Garage to let per day: 2.50 Euro
TV charge: 2.50 Euro per day
Surcharge for lunch per day and person: 15.00 Euro
Surcharge for dinner per day and person: 10.00 Euro

They have discounts for children under 12 upon request.

Rhoen Residence: Vacation Park in the High Rhoen

Looking for something that combines a camp ground, a hotel and a spa / wellness center? The Rhön Residence in Kneshecke combines it all. It's so popular, that last week the King of Ghana rented it for his entire enterage for the duration of the World Cup 2006.
The Kneshecke area has something for everyone. Bungalows for families or groups of friends, a first-class hotel, and guided fitness and wellness/spa programs. They are specialized in catering to groups, particularly family or group bus trips and school or youth group meetings / ralllies. This is the perfect sort of place to have a European-wide VT meeting, because they have accommodations in every price class for everybody! It's also a great place to have a concert or a party, because the the next town is about 3 miles away. Your group could party all night, and it wouldn't bother anyone.

The following is available here: Bungalows for 4-6 persons with kitchen facilities; regular, studio and suite hotel rooms; a wellness indoor pool; a sauna; massage facilities; 2 restaurants and a beer garden; squash court; 9-pin-lane; mini-golf-course; billiard room; snow sled rental; solarium; cosmetic studio; message center; meeting/conference rooms

Hotel Rhön Garden: 4 Star Comfort in the Middle of the Rhön

Since I live here, I was only actually here for a business dinner. But the staff was so nice, that I thought it should be included. My business colleagues, who stayed here were very happy with room comfort and the surprising variety of facilities included here. The restaurant has excellent food, and a creative cook. But what really surprised me was how friendly the people were who work here. If you have a question about the food, they send the cook to your table to answer your questions. I swear they would have brought the food out to your table to let you look at it before they cooked it, if you ordered something special.
They specialize in unique cuisine, including things like anti-pasta salads and flower sherberts (lavender and rose)!

Rooms start at 44 Euro /person, including breakfast - for an additional 16 Euro, they will include dinner, or 22 Euro for all meals - a real deal for a spa hotel.
In addition to their rooms with a personal touch, they have a special ozone indoor pool, and no less than 11 spa wellness care programs, that are detailed on their website. These programs include things like hot-stone message, ayurveda message, alkali-body treatment, dream messages, and a number of relax-message programs. They also have regular scheduled guided sport programs, like nordic walking or hiking, and will be happy to help you make arrangements for everything from paragliding to cross-country skiing.

For the quality they offer - an amazing deal in Germany!

Rhoen Park Hotel: Sport Hotel in the Rhoen

Although I haven't stayed here overnight, I have been to this hotel several times, for seminars and to eat, and I find it very comfortable.
This hotel is situated on the so-called 3-corner border - the border between Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia, in the middle of the Rhoen Natural Reserve. The hotel features a nice variety of sport activities, including tennis and a large indoor swimming pool.

This hotel is ideal for family vacations, and has lots of supervised activities, such as theatre-workshops, hiking, shepard hikes, hayrides, mountain bike tours, excursions, and baby-sitting.

For adults they also have guided mountain bike tours, tennis instruction, wellness weekends, organised hiking tours and day excursions, such as glider flying on the Wasserkuppe.

Nearby in Roth, they have their own micro brewery. You can ask for tours at the hotel.

The rooms are very comfortable, and you can prepare snacks in your hotel room.

Buchenau Castle: Royal Lodgings - Peasant Prices

Where can find something like this nowadays? Most castle lodgings start at three digit prices for staying overnight - but this one is really reasonable.
Buchenau Castle in the town of Eiterfeld, a town between Bad Hersfeld and Hünfeld in the Rhön.
The castle was built in 1397 by Eberhard von Buchenau, an feudal lord to the Bishop of Fulda. Because the von Buchenau dynasty went broke in the 17th century the castle and all of it's original belongings were confiscated by the church, and this has been a castle that rented out to petty noblemen until the start of WW I. Now it's property of the town, and they have turned into a hostel for group tours. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spartan.

The castle can be used for lectures, touring groups, seminars and study tours - they have very affordable meeting rooms in the castle.
Even if you are travelling alone, you can still stay here if you want to.
In only costs 22 Euro per person for a group of less than 10 people without meals; with breakfast 25.60 Euro, and with 3 meals a day 35.20 Euro a day. You can even have a room with a private shower and including breakfast for only 27.60 Euro per day.

Schloss Landeswehr: Romantic Castle Hotel

This was once the site of Landeswehr Castle, but today there are only ruins left from this impressive castle.

Behind the castle walls, you can glimpse at the ruins of the once impressive border Landeswehr or Landeswehre Castle tower which is tumbling down towards the valley. It was built in the 11th century and was once the vassal property of a certain Earl Johann von Henneberg – Schleusingen, as well as the nearby town of Meiningen. The original castle found it’s notorious end during the Farmer’s War in 1525 and in the following 30-Year-War, it was completely destroyed.

Duke Bernhard Erich II, “Friend” of Saxony-Meiningen inherited it, he built the castle that can be seen today in 1836 and called it Castle Landsberg (derived from the original name, Castle Landeswehr). It was built in neo-gothic style, just like many of the English nobility castles, such as Windsor Castle, and Hampton Court.

Up until the First World War, the castle with it’s original furnishing were on display for the public (in 1907 they had regular opening hours) and this was one of the most visited castles in Saxony-Meiningen.

In 1920 the Dukes of Saxony-Meiningen sold the castle with nearly all of it’s furnishing to a New York businessman, who had decided to live here. Later the castle fell into the hands of a wealthy family from Berlin, and after WWII, it became state property, served as a convalescent home, a medical school for Suhl County, and a retreat for the executives of the East German food store chain “HO”. In 1975–79 the HO rebuilt the castle into a luxury retreat for executives. In 1991–96 returned back into the hand of the community Saxony-Meiningen, and it became Hotel Schloss Landsberg GmbH & Co. KG and was opened for business by Prince Friedrich-Ernst, Prince of Saxony-Meiningen.

Since March 1997, the castle belongs to Mr. Uwe Klein from Meiningen, who runs and operates the restaurant and hotel, as well as the Hotel Schlundhaus in downtown Meiningen.

Skillful hands and talented craftsmen have created wonderful tower rooms and chambers in this castle, whose walls were lovingly decorated by master painters, and with stained-glass windows, in order to give guests the true feeling of living in a castle.
Five rooms with canopied beds can be found here, carefully decorated for princesses who await their prince charmings. Should you wish to join the banquet hall, you can decide if you would rather take the winding staircase or the elevator. The tower suite in the Elector Prince Suite is especially loved by newlyweds.
