Airport-Train Connections
by robertelizer
Can you please tell me the distance between the Saarbrucken Airport and the train station where I would catch the train to Paris? Also, do you know if there is public transportation between the two? Thank you.

I have no personal experience with this, but that new Saarbrücken to Paris TGV got my attention as well.
The Saarbrücken Airport website says RSW Regional Bus 10 goes from Saarbrücken Airport to the train station. It appears to depart hourly at :46 past the hour. Scheduled travel time is 27 minutes and cost is EUR 2.10. It also mentions you can go by taxi in approximately 20 minutes for EUR 25.
Check out http://www.vgs-online.de (German only) and/or http://www.flughafen-saarbruecken.de/anfahrt.php?lang=en&r=11&s=11 for details.

Travel Tips for Saarbrücken
Weighing fruits and veggies yourself!!
by jenniferhen
OK, we are spoilt in Canada... we do not have to weigh and label our produce.
Our first shopping trip was filled with confusion as the lady at the till told us (in German) that we were to weigh our produce. We stared back with blank looks and a line up of people behind us. We relized what she was saying when she got up and weighed our produce for us :) Opps...
Next trip back, try to weigh the food when you dont understand the machine! Thank God for friendly Germans who help stupid shoppers!
The Schloss wall

The Palace wall is a great place to have a lovely view from the city of Saarbrücken. It was moved back 16 meters when the "cityring" was built. The head of the "miserly baker" of St. Johann can be seen on the side of the stairs that go up to the wall. This was earlier used as a gargoyle at the old bridge.
SAARBRUECKEN

"TRANSIT BETWEEN FRANCE & GERMANY"
We took the train from Paris into Saarbruecken to pick up a rental car on way to our timeshare exchange in LEIWEN-on-the-Mosel; and then at the end of the week, we stayed overnight after returning the car, and then got a train back into France.
So, we didn't really experience the city at all, other than the TIP about the hotel.
